Posted By: glennbp, 10-13-2012, 01:58 PM

Welcome to the Picture of the Week #235. Let's see plenty of great postings over the next week.

This week covers tth October to 20th October, 2012.

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

Some French and Indian War re-enactors at Ft. William Henry this past weekend. K5 and DA 15 with some B&W treatment.

Thanks Glenn. Deep Creek outside of Bryson City. The leaves and Ektachrome sky packed WCU, Sylva, Bryson City, and everything west of Asheville this weekend.

A weekend trip out of town.

kx, pentax smc 35-70

kx, pentax 45-125 at f8 - f11. am pleasantly surprised at how sharp it is even though it's got a bit of fungus on the edges.

Love the fall colors showing up! Here's a fall color of a different sort in the American south... the bright red seeds of the Southern magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora). They look like candy to me!

Geese in formation as the sun gets low in the west

And a newly toothless smile

Thanks pentaximus

I've only just started playing with these two lenses. At this stage I prefer the 45-125 over the 35-70 but I think I need more time with both to really say.

I just find the 35-70 to be sooooo reliable: quick-focusing and always sharp. My shots above are all with the 35-70.

Thanks Paul

I'm with you, I also like the colour and sharpness of this lens. I think I'll leave it on the camera for a little while and see what other things I might grab. Rest of this week is gonna be busy so not sure at this stage if I'll get much more posted, but we'll see.

@wolfiegirl - Fantastic shots! I really need to plan a trip one of these days to Australia and New Zealand. The scenery is just superb!

@Pentaximus - Great photos! The detail on the seed pod is spectacular!

@jimr-pdx - You really nailed the colors on that huckleberry and larch shot. Love the backlighting - very serene!

@reeftool - The BW on these shots really makes the photos IMO. It lends a bit of reality to the time period that is being created. Nice job!

I had the travelling Nifty Fifty with me for a few days-these are some pics, along with a few others.

This with the kit lens-Johannesburg from the Carlton centre, at one stage the tallest building in Africa. There are views north, south east and west.

A bit later

Someone left their fig behind at the botanical gardens I visited.

The peaches are still green

And matching flowers to wolfiegirls (i'm sure these Australians stole our flowers-there are so many of exactly the same flowers)

@noelcmn - Beautiful photos! I especially like the ducklings (goslings?) shot. The detail is spot on. Did you use the 50mm lens?
