"Vanishing Point"
Posted By: casil403, 10-17-2012, 05:16 PM

Welcome to another weekly Challenge'
Thanks to Arjay Bee for hosting and judging last week!

This weeks challenge is Vanishing Point Perspective - "The vanishing point is situated, say, infinite miles away and the lines in your picture are moving towards that point, making it look like your bridge, road, fence, tunnel is infinitely long." - 25 Pictures with an Amazing Vanishing Point Perspective
I loooove this type of photography!!!!
A couple of examples:

Be crazy creative!

The fine print....
1. Post ONE photo (max 1024x1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread. If it's not obvious, explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge closes after 7 days, then allows for a day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax (or Samsung DSLR) camera will do.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, the winner will PM the #2 winner and pass the baton to that person to be the judge.

Challenge will end Tuesday October 23 Oct midnight GMT.

Previous 10 Challenge Subjects:, 210 - Center It, 211-Abandoned, 212 - Trees, 213 - Fences, 214 - Physical Strain, 215 - The Daily Grind, 216 - Colors of nature, 217 - Heavy Industry, 218 - Wisdom, 219-Surprise, 220 - Blue

I got this shot earlier this year while on vacation in Biloxi, Mississippi. The fishing pier across the street from our Hotel. Shot with a K5 and DA 15. It's a standard pier shot although if I had been a little earlier, it would have truly "vanished" into the fog which was beginning to lift and clear as I shot this.

Not the strongest vanishing point but the best that I have.

This is going to be a fun challenge to watch. Great subject.

Some really good photos already. I'm going to have a bit of fun with this and interpret "the vanishing point" completely differently. This photo was taken with my DA 55-300, a very long distance from the subjects that were stirring up a lot of dust. It's not a great shot by any means but I like it because I can't believe I managed to capture the last second of this baby wildebeest's life as the lioness chased it -- this definitely was its vanishing point.

I like to go out and see what I can get when there is a full moon. There is a lot involved in knowing when the moonrise and sunset are and how the two events can interact, you have to have an idea of where the moon rises in relation to the terrain, and you don't have very long to work, the rising moon moves rapidly. But you also have to have something interesting in the foreground. The nice thing about there "poer towers" is the way they "glow" with the last rays of sunlight.
