Weekly Challenge #46 - B&W Street Shooting, people/buildings

Weekly Challenge #46 B&W Street Shooting, people/buildings

The challenge:
I Like to See some street shooting in B&W. It seems we’ve not done much with B&W’s and I’ll be looking for something creative and a good B&W process. Doesn’t have to be super sharp, motion blurs and abstract images work well here also.
Not necessary that the shot was taken this week.

I’d like the shots to include people in some way but a good shot with Graffiti or interesting building should also be included.

It’s an area I like but rarely shoot and look forward to some great and creative shots.
The following isn’t a great example but you get the idea.
Name: IMGP5448bw sm.jpg
Views: 597
Size: 53.0 KB

The contest will run until 12:00 AM EST (noon) on Sunday, February 17th. I’ll try to post the winners on the 17th.

The rules are as always:

The rules:
1. Post ONE photo (max 800x800) as a response to THIS post.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme. It can be colour or B&W, your choice.
3. You can offer as much or as little additional information as you wish, but I'd be interested to know the location/event/whatever being depicted.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and chose 1 of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. The challenge runs for 7 days plus a day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any camera will do but it must be a Pentax. Just use any camera you want. No discriminating anyone as long as the shooter is an active member here.

Previous Challenge Subjects:
1-Statues, 2-Wheels, 3-Speed, 4-Peace, 5-Survival, 6-Macro, 7-Mountains, 8-Children, 9-Post Processing, 10- Windows & Doors, 11-Sport, 12-Urban Landscape, 13-Wisdom, 14-Power, 15-Music, 16-Pathways, 17-Lines, 18-Storm, 19-Boats, 20-Water, 21 - Golden Hour, 22 - Natural Lighting, Portraits, 23- Motion Blur, 24-Simplicity, 25-Color, 26-Cars, 27-Repetition, 28-Wildlife, 29-Epiphany, 30-Contrast, 31-Pets, 32-Landscapes, 33-Coastal, 34-Churches, 35-Bridges, 36-Creation, 37-Still LIfe: Food, 38-At the Zoo, 39-Wide Aperture, 40-Merry Christmas, 41- Sunsets, 42-Action, 43-Fireworks, 44-Manipulated Light Portraits, 45- Advertising/Product Shot

Creativity? Bah How about a Horse's Ass?

Taken on a recent business trip, after a "business dinner" - SR has nothing on a few pops - Slow lens (Tamron 18-250), Slow skills (enhanced by being over .08) and wobbly panning focused locked on the horse's ass

Industrial shots would be fine. I don't want to limit the creativity. Go for it.

Can I post a picture made of an abandoned industrial complex? Or would it be too far off the theme?

I had to go back a ways to find probably the only street photography photo I have! The doggy caught my eye and I asked the gentleman if I could take the picture, something I have a very hard time doing for some reason. This was during the Ironman competition in Coeur d'Alene last summer.

Peter, another great topic.

I am just wondering what you meant by street shooting... Anything that is in the street?

I think it turned out a very cool shot, with a slightly surreal effect

The "rules" are very liberal and as long as there's no bright red/green/blue etc in the shot...anything goes.
bluespearbone of course it's colour if it came from a DSLR. Part of the point of this is to see what we can learn/do with conversions.

Come on the rest of you. Dig through those hard drives and lets get some more good one's posted. Lookin' good so far. I'd also like to note that some may not post a pic because they don't want to host the next one. I'm OK with hosting it again or appointing another finalist to do it. If you feel that way, send me a PM but please share your stuff.

That's right the fun is in entering and seeing all the different people, places and things, techniques and stories behing the photo and photographer. The million dollar first prize supplied by Peter is just icing on the cake.

That said Peter I know I have the best horses ass, and confident if your judging criteria included the posterior of the EQUUS CABALLUS species I would no doubt be awarded the crown.

As you may or may not know – I will be on a winter retreat – leaving Friday so I will be unable to host the next contest. It is with the deepest regret I will be in a southern tropical region, taking things on my bucket list (SCUBA!) and unable to participate. It will take several minutes on the plane to overcome this deep feeling of loss.

On that note keep'em comming

Here's mine. I changed my original entry to this one, I hope that is okay.

Taken with K100D, 18-55mm kit lens, and Hoya R72 IR filter, converted to B&W with PS CS2.

PLEASE, explain this last shot. It is a little disconcerning to see a child in this manner. On the other hand, the legs tell me it is NOT a real child, is it!

If it is real, it should be a winner in my books.

EDIT: Gooshin and I posted at the same time so, its the image 2 posts up.
