243 Dec 2 to Dec 16

"POTW #243 December 2 - December 16" Welcome to the Picture of the Week #243.

That lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time. There are just so many splendid photos out there so let's see you post them to this POW 243

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

Here are the links to previous POTW threads:

Shoot I took during lunchbreak while I was on a workshop/seminar in Maryland. It was a herd of Canada goose taking a break in a very boring Industrial/Business area.

The picture was taken with a K7 and a Sigma 50/1.4 at ISO 100, f1.6 and 1/640s. Postprocessing in Lightroom was mainly adding a B&W preset filter.

Thanks for doing it again Arnold and welcome Etweb. Went to look at some small Australian Shepherds this afternoon. A blue and green eye on this 10 wk old little girl. The evening sunset.

Went out with a co-worker this weekend. Accidentally had the Sigma lens OS on and the body SR on for about 1/2 the long shots. That does not really work well.

The haze was mostly burned off.

Thanks for hosting again, Arnold!
It was a pretty dreary weekend. Cold, fog, the kind of weather that just makes your joints ache. I took a walk around Saratoga Spa State Park. It was pretty empty. This is the walkway at the Hall of Springs. This came out far better then I expected. I was strolling around with my K10D and a Super Tak 28/3.5. My mistake was I forgot to move the auto-manual switch and realized I had been shooting wide open. What can I say? Senior moments and brain farts! Rather than re-shoot, I got disgusted and went home. I figured I had a bunch of deletes. I was pleasantly surprised. A little soft but better than I expected.

Arnold, youīre collecting gold stars in all of our books

Lukulele, that puppy is both adorable and cool, a combination any man would wish for right. Good shot of the sunset!

Welcome Etweb! Think b&w is perfect for that picture. Good job.

Hoping to not totaly bore ya folks, Iīll continue on my Naples theme with the following captures from last week

Reeftool, I like that shot. I think the softness adds a dimension to it. Nick.Nero, awesome rain shot there. What was the occasion? Looks like a procession?
Here's my contribution

Still messing around with that Salsify seeds

Bugs

Flowers

Birds flying overhead-Sacred Ibises

I happened to have 200mm lens on the camera-not good enough, so heavily cropped.,

Have a wonderful week everyone.

I like the texture of the bricks, and because the depth of field effect is gradual, it seems like a natural fade.

To everyone who has contributed, I love the surprise of seeing each new post. They are a delight even if one cannot comment on them all.

Liked it the first time I saw it and going back I still do. Perhaps crop the out of focus bit on the right hand side. // Nick

Birds in flight are tricky any day of the week. I see what you mean with the lens but still good shots.

The occasion was rain, nothing else. I was standing in the doorway of a church looking down on the scene waiting for the right coulorfull cluster. Glad you like.

For the fun of it, hereīs a bit of SA exported in a picture of my wifes biltong maker for you. Itīs an old computer chassi.

Yum Yum, I buy biltong at the local butcher here. Actually this is the old building. He has moved around the corner now.

I'm gonna maintain that these South Africans are becoming a pandemic all over this forum-they're now even including biltong. Now, I think, would be a good time to market another South African cultural delicacy-MOPANE WORMS. Any takers out there. Comes in two forms- Dried or uncooked and juicy, (wet, hairy and protein rich I am told, which will tell you that I have not tasted it in its uncooked form. Have had a tiny tiny bit of the dried version-many moons ago when I was still young and ridiculous. To be served with copious amounts of tomato relish and the like). Uncanned at the moment, but arrangements can be made for shipping.

Well, perhaps I should opt for CHAKALAKA?

Is there a light in it? And did she keep the fan? (just fishing for ideas you know) Not the first biltong making machine I have come across in Europe, but certainly the smallest, and most innovative. How long does it take, and how much can you make? (more fishing going on here).

Thanks for hosting arnold! I'm loving all these shots I'm seeing here, I guess it's my turn. Nothing as exciting or exotic as protein-packed worms, though . Took a short hike down to the lake the other night to check out the boathouses there. I had some nice light as the sun was setting.

I had to do a fair bit of PP on this one to deal with the glare -
