PotW #245. December 16th - January 2nd 2013.
Posted By: Nick Nero, 12-22-2012, 06:27 PM

"Welcome to the Picture of the Week #245. December 16th - January 2nd 2013. Wouldnīt be surprised if weīll see one or two picīs with a Holiday theme over the next few days.

Big, Big thanks to Arnold for hosting three times in a row. As said, they will raise statues and name streets after him one day!

This POTW lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time. There are just so many splendid photos out there so let's see you post them to this POW 245

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.

2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.

3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.

4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.

5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

Here are the links to previous POTW threads:

And, Tom, you must be cheating somehow if that hawk was shot from your car.
I did open the window, pull over, and turn the engine off. I've found when you get out they fly away.

Thanks for hosting Nick. We had some really windy days, it finally died yesterday, and had some sun today, I took off this morning for a walk in the woods.
One of the wind casualties:

Saw this on the way home and shot from the car:
I bet you had a broad smile on you face for days after catching that hawk. Focus, framing itīs all perfect. Congratīs, Tom // Nick

Many thanks for hosting, Nick. A bit busy with Christmas, though it's a nice thing to be busy with, so only a few shots over the past ten days or so. K5 and DA 35mm f2.8 in Oxford, UK. The guy in the first photo was a real hoot

Great shots as always. Two questions; The guy in Cornmarket, how does he do it? and the graffiti on the bridge; whatīs the last word? // Nick

Merry Christmas to all of you.

This is how much light we have here at most.
Especially love the second one. Imho that lonesome house out on that small cape adds dimension. // Nick

As to Cornmarket, hey it's magic ... I think the guy in Cornmarket uses a thin metal frame, the foot stuck between two paving stones and the head forming a seat and back support, all inside his suit. I know he does a similar thing with a difference frame which causes him to look as if he is sitting upright but in thin air, the frame being a seat and thin support running down inside his trousers into a heavy base covered with a magic carpet. I can't work out what that third word says. Since the first two works are Wreck Head I guess the writer may have been a bit out of it by the time he got to the third one.

Thanks Nick, I get excited whenever I see a hawk, two red-tailed and a kestrel that day. Did not get a good shot of the kestrel and the other red-tailed was too far away, this one is cropped quite a bit.

Today we had a snowstorm, I'm off work this week for the holidays, so I headed out to the country to try and get some landscapes or whatever. A few times this afternoon it was near whiteout conditions. I his some pretty good drifts on some of the less traveled roads, that's when you know not to stop.

Nice. The last two are very evocative. Can't get the snow shots here.
