POTW #246 23 Dec 2012 through 6 Jan 2013
Posted By: ramseybuckeye, 01-01-2013, 07:09 AM

Welcome to Picture of the week #246 covering 23 December 2012 through 6 January 2013. Thanks to Nick Nero for an outstanding job of hosting an extra long POTW! This POTW lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week. POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. We can share ideas, learn from one another, and have a good time. There are just so many splendid photos out there so let's see you post them to this POW 245

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.
2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.
4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.
5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

Here are the records of previous POTW threads:

Got tired of laying sick in bed , and decided to try out a feature on the K5 I hadn't tried before. I think this is what I was seeing when I had the flu
(Wow did everyone get the flu this year?)

Woah, what's the feature you're using? Is this just a double exposure of sorts?

These are my first photos with my first DSLR, still have much to learn! Taken on a K30.

A friend of mine taking a few shots in a paddock we came across.

The sky earlier tonight, this is a bit over saturated but it looked incredible!

Yep, double exposure. Thought I'd try it out. Got the idea from here.

Lovely photos of the hay and sky. Beautiful colour and layers of the clouds. I always feel like pulling over to take pictures of the rolls of hay when I'm driving.
(The K5 is my first DSLR as well I still have to read through the manual! )

POTW Submissions

Here are a few from my 365 project.

1. A 30 second exposure of a fire may give a clue to what I got for Christmas.

2. As the sun went low behind us we head directly towards a snow storm on the Navajo Nation.

3. Saguaro Cactus

4. Miniature Rose

5. "[T]he said Constitution [should] be never construed... to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms."

Looks like fun, but don't jinx us with that flu talk. By the way, welcome to POTW.

Congratulations on that K-30 and welcome to the forums and POTW. That's two nice pics to start with!

Dave, what a a variety of photos and they are all good, I'm partial to #2, some reason I like photos with roads.

That's a cool sky in #1, and you must be boring that cat!

Ah ice fishing. I like that one. Looks relaxing.
I don't think I've ever seen an owl before. But I remember one flew through my neighbours' window years ago.

Here's an isolated photo of the street lamp. This was the first day I used my K5
The only lens I've bought for it so far is the the Rokinon 35mm f1.4 MF. So I was practicing with it a lot.

I really like the images you have submitted, I enjoy the subject matter and the composition is pretty good. And I'll have to say that lens is sharp, pretty impressive!

The new POTW thread is up, thanks to all who participated in this edition!

Yes, nice cat. Looks like a scrapper. Notice the notch in his right ear.

Thanks for hosting Tom! I got out for a winter walk in a forest this weekend and captured some scenes to explore Nik Software's Color Efex Pro with:
