Weekly Challenge # 47 - Vanishing Point

Weekly Challenge # 47 - Vanishing Point

Wikipedia defines it as follows:
"A vanishing point is a point in a perspective drawing to which parallel lines appear to converge. The number and placement of the vanishing points determines which perspective technique is being used.".

This task this week is to shoot a picture with a clearly defined Vanishing Point.

It’s an area I like and I look forward to some great and creative shots. Pictures taken outdoors like the one below, taken close focus, or anything in between are all possible options for this challenge.

The following example is a picture with vanishing point I shot with my P&S last summer. But I'm sure you all have a good idea of what I'm looking for.

The contest will run until 11:59 PM (midnight) EST on Tuesday, February 26th. I’ll try to post the winners on the 27th.

The rules are as always:

The rules:
1. Post ONE photo (max 800x800) as a response to THIS post.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme. It can be colour or B&W, your choice.
3. You can offer as much or as little additional information as you wish, but I'd be interested to know the location/event/whatever being depicted.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and chose 1 of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. The challenge runs for 7 days plus a day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any camera will do but it must be a Pentax. Just use any camera you want. No discriminating anyone as long as the shooter is an active member here.

Previous Challenge Subjects:
1-Statues, 2-Wheels, 3-Speed, 4-Peace, 5-Survival, 6-Macro, 7-Mountains, 8-Children, 9-Post Processing, 10- Windows & Doors, 11-Sport, 12-Urban Landscape, 13-Wisdom, 14-Power, 15-Music, 16-Pathways, 17-Lines, 18-Storm, 19-Boats, 20-Water, 21 - Golden Hour, 22 - Natural Lighting, Portraits, 23- Motion Blur, 24-Simplicity, 25-Color, 26-Cars, 27-Repetition, 28-Wildlife, 29-Epiphany, 30-Contrast, 31-Pets, 32-Landscapes, 33-Coastal, 34-Churches, 35-Bridges, 36-Creation, 37-Still LIfe: Food, 38-At the Zoo, 39-Wide Aperture, 40-Merry Christmas, 41- Sunsets, 42-Action, 43-Fireworks, 44-Manipulated Light Portraits, 45- Advertising/Product Shot, 46- B&W Street Shooting, people/buildings

Let the fun begin. Good luck everyone!

Great photo, Jim. I know exactly the place.

And based on your moniker can I assume it is your son or daughter I hear from my office, practicing in the bitter cold and oppressive heat? Hardier souls than I!
Thanks I've sat there and played with the camera the last couple of trips I have taken thru Chicago. Much quieter and less annoying than the main concourses when you have a couple hours layover.

Yes our son is a 'Clone (senior, Technical Communications). We've spent the last 4 years going to every home game in Ames just so we could get our "fix" of marching band... Makes quite a long weekend driving back & forth from Omaha. If you can hear 'em practicing, you're either on campus or you've got *really* good hearing!

In retrospect, I would have chosen a smaller aperture.

Well Here' my attempt. Some great ideas and variations on the theme. I notice the resize causes some jagged edges to the colour so if you want to see the larger size go here: http://islandviewsphoto.googlepages.com/TruckLights1.jpg/TruckLights1-full;init:.jpg

Nice shot! I can just imagine being a hitchhiker and that's what's in front of you without a car to be seen....
