#230 - Breaking the Rules

One of the first comments I've read for a photo I've posted in a site I'm member was "you have to follow the rule of thirds". I was embarrassed cause I really liked the photo and the comment was obviously correct. Not following the rule of thirds was a "problem" in that shot. But it's not always like that in photography. Of course we have to know the important rules but a few of the most interesting photos I've seen are the ones that are breaking them. So IMHO it's important to know and understand the rules but there is definitely creativity in breaking them.

Post your best photo that either deliberately or by accident breaks an important rule of photography. As I'm rather new in photography mentioning which rule you are breaking would actually help me

The fine print....
1. Post ONE photo (max 1024x1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread. If it's not obvious, explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge closes after 7 days, then allows for a day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax (or Samsung DSLR) camera will do.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, the winner will PM the #2 winner and pass the baton to that person to be the judge.

The challenge will end on Saturday January 26th

Previous 15 Challenge Subjects: 212 - Trees, 213 - Fences, 214 - Physical Strain, 215 - The Daily Grind, 216 - Colors of nature, 217 - Heavy Industry, 218 - Wisdom, 219-Surprise, 220 - Blue, 221-Vanishing Point, 222-Motion, 223-Juxtaposition, 224-Metals, 225-Firelight, 226-The [Not-So] Mundane, 227-Angles, 228-Theater, 229- Does not Belong

Be creative and have fun.

just kidding, it is a great image by the way, has a real creep factor though.

Thanks Tom Perhaps you read the litte story posted in potw about the rather large deer that gracefully strolled across this graveyard in the dark half an earlier, while I had the camera facing the other way in the middle of another long exposure. Right then I could have killed (pun intended) for a second camera in my bag.

What's this "rule of thirds" he asks disdainfully, as he takes up the whole frame.

Don’t take photos directly facing the sun else you may experience lens flare.
