POTW #249 13 Jan 2013 through 27 Jan 2013
Posted By: Douge, 01-20-2013, 12:15 AM

Welcome to Picture of the week #249 covering 13 Jan 2013 through 27 Jan 2013. Looks like we are heading towards the end of the first month of 2013! Let's see those great, interesting shots you've been taking in your part of the world If you would like to host next week please send me a PM, otherwise I will be asking you. We saw a great variety of wonderful shots last week! From blazing heat to frigid still nights. This POTW lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week. POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. We can share ideas, learn from one another, tell stories, and have a good time. There are just so many splendid photos out there so let's see you post them to this POW 249.

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.
2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.
4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.
5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

Here are the records of previous POTW threads:

Thanks for hosting, Douge!
A lot of great images here. Seems like you had a great week in terms of photography so far.

Since my son was born three weeks ago there wasn't much time for photography (to be honest I had better things to do ;-)). We're quite busy adapting to the new situation. Yesterday we went on a walk and I was able to take a few images (only one worth showing):

That's some big snowballs for a little kid to make, I think the big kid with the camera helped! Looks like you two had a ball that day.

I do say, a bundle of joy. Congratulations!
We are for sure expecting pictures of the little one like everyday from now on. At your usual high standard of course

That's wonderful news David, CONGRATULATIONS. Definitely better things to do-especially diapers and getting up in the wee hours of the night. May he bring you a lifetime of joy and happiness, not to mention a vast array of photographs. Look forward to seeing some soon.

You must have done a quick dash outside for that. Nice shot with the icicles by the window.
Thanks. We´re pretty used to the cold so no real worries there. There´s a hole in the gutter since long that I never seem to get fixed during summer. Thanks to that the icicles sometimes grows to cover the entire window. I´ll make sure to take a picture next time that happens. // Nick

Sunrise this morning at school and tank car switching this evening. K-01/Sigma 28-105. Maybe icicles Friday evening. I'm scouting trees now Nick.
You do that
Especially love the bottom one. Such sharpness and depth on the right hand side. Fabulous. // Nick

Haven't ventured out with my camera yet again. But that doesn't stop me taking pictures through the window. Or of the window.

Some frost in the sun room. Although when I opened the door it let in too much moist air and later the windows fogged up. Rokinon 35mm

A bunny that was hanging out under the tree by the window. Was eating some leaves buried in the snow. Haven't seen as many rabbits this year. pentax takumar 200mm

Beautifull frost flowers there. Second one from the top´s a fav
...and you´re doing a great job hosting

Congratulations David! Here were my children this evening. Our second grade German immersion students prior to their language recital. A rambunctious bunch ready to sprout finger horns behind any unsuspecting victim.

Thanks very much for hosting, Douge. It's been a week of bitter cold and grey skies here and I am getting a little envious of the fab pictures from all around the world which have some sun in them. Here are a few of mine, mostly K5 and various stuffies:

Mecrox - what a great set of shots (in spite of your dreary weather)! The swans in the snowy pond is stunning.

Mecrox, those swans are silly good.

Good oportunity for moon shots tonight they say. But, there´s something with me and moons that doesn´t go together. Long esposure, short exposure......i just never get it right. Anyway, not the shot I wanted but finding it rather pretty still, I think.......

I like it Nick, and commend you for braving the cold with your night shot experiments!

Here's one more from our recent snow dusting - a huge contrast from our weather this week (78F yesterday)!

Thanks! But then your nice shots are pretty snowy too! It's still a great thing to be able to do whatever the weather and I'm sure glad for WR at to mo. Yes, those swans were very kind of me, right by the river bank and together.
