Welcome to Picture of the Week #252 covering 3 Feb 2013 through 17 Feb 2013. Hello and thanks to Dr Orloff for his excellent hosting and superb images in the weekly challenges. If you would like to host next week please send me a PM, otherwise I will be asking you. This POTW lets you show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week. POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. We can share ideas, learn from one another, tell stories, and have a good time. There are just so many splendid photos out there so let's see you post them to this POW 252.

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.
2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.
4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.
5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

Wecome to POTW 252. Thanks to Dr Orloff for his hosting last week, Let's take off with more superb shots from around the world.

Thanks for hosting Lukulele. I'd better post some shots here before I get too busy again. This is from the 2nd Feb, hope you don't mind, but I was going to post in the previous POTW.
Took the Sunday School children out for a picnic, to a small game reserve/picnic spot just west of Johannesburg, one that I have not been to before, and I was pleasantly surprised at the beauty of the place. Insects, birds and landscapes to delight the trigger finger.
These I am posting because I am utterly envious of all the snow pics that have been abounding here.






Just the place for teenagers to get rid of some of their energy.

We had a little warm up this week, and yesterday was a great day to spend outside.
kerI was rewarded for my time outside with a Pileated Woodpecker. he was petty high up, but I got to see him anyway. Another flew right past him while I was shooting, maybe his mate:


This was taken at a relatively new park I visited for the first time from an observation deck they have on an inlet along the Scioto River in Columbus, Ohio.

Thanks for hosting lukulele. Nice range of good photos from all over so far! Nice weather last week, so I took the dogs over to one of the many ballfields close to the house. Just some happy snaps, while letting the mutts wander around. The sky was a beautiful blue, and I tried to feature it in a lot of my shots...

I spent Saturday at the annual winter carnival in Saranac Lake, the Adirondacks answer to Mardi Gras.

Inside this years ice castle. I was shooting straight into the sun and pushing the dynamic range of the K5 and the flare resistance of the DA 15 to the max here. Did a good bit of adjustments in Lightroom and the shot still needs some more work when I get the time.

Great first two days. Hemispheres north and south. Snow, ice, sand, surf, birding, wading, architecture, beaches, steroidal snowblowers....great images all. Keep 'em coming.

We just had decent amount of rain in winter immediately followed by some warm days. It seems like some flowers are blooming sooner than usual.

John Milton Bryant had the misfortune to be the first aviator to die in Canada, just a week after his wife, Alys, became the first woman to fly in Canada.
