POTW #262 14 Apr 2013 through 28 Apr 2013
Posted By: ruggiex, 04-21-2013, 06:55 AM

Welcome to Picture of the Week #262 covering 14 Apr 2013 through 28 Apr 2013.

Thanks to Davidw0815 for taking on the hosting duties last week. If you would like to host next week please send me a PM, otherwise I will be asking you. POTW is a great spot to show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week. POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. We can share ideas, learn from one another, tell stories, and have a good time. There are just so many splendid photos out there so let's see them here at POTW 262!

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.
2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.
4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.
5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

Here are the records of previous POTW threads:

Thanks for hosting, ruggiex!

Yesterday I used the almost warm night and the almost full moon for some night shots. I'm not finished processing so I can just post one image so far:

Davidw0815 - beautiful, love the tone of that image and the background that goes with it. I just saw your post on G+ as well. Hope I can be as good one day!

I was lucky to see that little bird again. It's very quick and hops around between yellow flowers on a bush. I went outside and got a few good shots of it. But I can't seem to figure out what kind of bird it is. I left my bird books up at the cottage.

Cropped so can see it a bit better.

It's beak seems to be similar to this bird

Similar looking to these birds but not the same...
Cassin's Vireo - Whatbird.com
Bell's Vireo - Whatbird.com
Philadelphia Vireo - Whatbird.com

Oh here we go. For some reason this bird did not come up when I put in it's features. I just searched for "kinglet" because it had the most similar beak. I think it's a female ruby crowned kinglet. (I Just realized it's the female version of the one Tom posted lol.)

A really nice idea this POTW, nice to see what is going on around the globe. I took the kids to Paris and arrived home to an overdue spring:

Thanks very much, Noel & ruggiex!

@Dr Orloff: Amazing images - as usual! I always wonder how you manage to take so many great images in such short time.

One more image from my night session:

Dr Orloff - wow nice. I can totally imagine seeing the second picture on a billboard or something.
Davidw0815 - very nice. how late into the night was this one taken? or was ND filter used? just curious how you got it looking like that with 253s exposure.

Great week guys!

Way past midnight. For a night shot at f/8 and ISO 200, 253sec isn't that long. After all, compared to the sun's brightness the full moon's is just 0.0002 %. So very soon after sunset you have wait a long time for your exposures. Especially with the K7 - it's impossible to switch of the dark frame subtraction in this camera.
Cheers,
David
