#242 - Old, Ancient, Antique.
Posted By: Bramela, 04-28-2013, 12:09 PM

I thought perhaps this time round we can come up with something, Old, Ancient, or Antique. It could be an old decrepit building, an antique object or even a portrait of an aged person. An opportunity to use our imagination

This competition will be open till Saturday 4th May..

The fine print....
1. Post ONE photo (max 1024x1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and please let all of us know where your wild space is located
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose 1 of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus a day for the judge to choose the winners.

A couple of my examples

Good shooting and post up.

I am going to be out of action for a couple of days, am being admitted to hospital today for an operation. Should any problems arise, which would be unexpected, I will let you know and perhaps Dr.Orloff could judge the competition, but, as I say, I don't expect the situation to arise.
Have fun with this one guys.

You must mean it will open from Saturday 27th April and run until Saturday May 4th. I have a lot of abilities but time travel (back to yesterday) is regrettably not one of them Unless you mean April 27th 2014. Now that would give ample time to find something antique. I may even organise a trip to Israel to check out some archaeological sites.

This is probably a little less ancient than most, but I found it interesting. This is how New Yorkers traveled in the early 1930's. Subway car circa 1932. Note the rattan seats. As an employee of a major manufacturer of subway cars I was appalled at the open ceiling fans and bare incandescent light bulbs. Public safety was a bit more...er...lax in the '30's! The ads were fun too, but not exactly historically accurate, for instance the ad in the top center is for 3 1950 movies. But I did like the copy: "Parking is expensive. Traffic is slow. Ride the subway. See a show!"

Saugus Iron Works--Operated 1646-1670

This certainly qualifies as old-ancient and antique.Right in the middle of Saugus Ma. is the Saugus Iron Works.Saugus was founded in 1629 and the Iron Works was profitable from 1646-1670.The original site has been restored and the site museum has many original artifacts from that era.It is a National Historic Site and it is FREE to visit. When you're there it is like going back in time especially when they have the water wheels working because the Saugus River flows through the grounds. It opens for the season on May 4th and it is one of my favorite spots to photograph. Here is a link to the site.It is very informative.--charliezap.
