POTW #265 05 May 2013 through 19 May 2013
Posted By: pentaximus, 05-12-2013, 05:55 AM

Welcome to another round of Picture of the Week. This is edition #265 covering 05 May 2013 through 19 May 2013.

A big thank you to the guy that hosted last week. POTW is a great spot to show off any shots you took last week but haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week. POTW is a great place to show what you've been shooting day-to-day. We can share ideas, learn from one another, tell stories, and have a good time.

Again same rules as always:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.
2) Lets keep it to fewer than 6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week.
3) Any Pentax camera or Samsung SLR is fine, whether it's film, P&S, or DSLR.
4) Enter anything you shot last week or during this current week until the thread closes.
5) The current host will appoint the new host as an invitation via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

Here are the records of previous POTW threads:

OK, this is really my last batch for this week. I've finally caught up...

The Culver City car show.

The fire department had an open house, and pancake breakfast.

Met up again with fellow member Andreas (kaibil1).

Beautiful & interesting shots this week! My wife & I took the dogs over to a local park recently. The park features a very nice hike/bike trail that runs alongside a creek - offering quite a few photo ops - - (some of these shots x-posted elsewhere in the forums). Taken with a very basic (and old!) *istD & 18-55 kit lens

thanks for hosting pentaximus!
@paul - lovely flower shot you've got there.
@noelmcn - lovely moon shots!
@dave kitson - beautiful!
@ruggiex - love it! so haunting! i need to try those long exposure shots one of these days.

resurrected the k100d this week after reading a post about someone asking about whether or not we still use our k100ds.

and am very pleased that i took it out to play. am preferring the ease in which i'm getting in focus shots to my k-01.

and this one taken on the k100d with the 55 f1.8. It needs al foil to do cif, but the al foil's over *there* and i'm over *here*, so it's just as is relying on the green button and the red marker. i'd forgotten how useful that red marker was. am very pleased with the results.

Thanks, SpecialK. You've been our own personal travel journal host. Finally, we see bin Laden's body!

What a great park! The first shot has my boys ready to run onto the field and start throwing a football or frisbee.

Nice work with the k100d! And it helps to have such a great subject.

Thanks, WG! Your baby is beyond cute & you captured him nicely with your K100D. My wife has taken over ownership of my K100, and you can see her holding it in my pond reflections shot. She's a new Pentaxian now, since losing her Sony DSLR during a recent business trip.

Another one from my short Arizona trip. This was taken with recently acquired DA*16-50. I think I'm just spoiled by the 15mm Ltd. I can't produce the same clarity with this DA*. Next time I won't be lazy and will switch out the lens.

We caught this one just a few minutes before the sun disappeared completely. I had a different spot in mind but there was no time!

Warm weather has hastened buds and blooms here, I just hope the weather does not turn and wipe the blossoms away prematurely.

I hope to be able to say this someday.

We actually had a hail and wind storm that did some of that around here. That's why you have to shoot early and often!

With wolfiegirl pulling out the K100D, it got me thinking about how many different cameras we have represented this week! Tell me if I miss one:

K-x
K-5
*istD
K100D
MX-1
K200D
K-30
K-01
Q
K-20D? (That's my guess for Dave)

That's quite a list for such a small group. Maybe there's another camera out there to add to the list? Anyone?

I was hoping to sneak this one in before anyone has a chance to respond. Probably the last one for the week from me since I'm heading off to a photography workshop soon. (Hoping to level up!)

I almost tripped when this one flew by my head followed by a wasp or some sort that was the size of my thumb. I made sure the wasp flew away before I followed this one around. It was the size of my palm! Finally got this picture before it decided I was no fun to be around.

With shots like that I guess you're teaching the photography workshop, right? Great one!

Thanks for the compliment!

Na, definitely not teaching. I am still an amateur. I think I'm just at point where I can take photos but I have yet to be able to create them. Still got long ways to go!

Thanks Paul. But umm... am obliged to say this. wolfiepup is a girl....

My fault for the confusion, as I don't always dress her in pinks and dresses. I was at a garage sale a few weekends back and was rummaging in the boy's baby clothes box. All that was in the girl's box was this hideous neon pink.

How wonderful - another pentaxian joins the herd!!

I think that despite owning 3 cams () the k100d is still my favourite. The kx, while having higher ISO doesn't have the red square, which I love, and the k-01, despite having the lcd screen (which i also love) and super high ISO, tends to be very slow on the AF on my f35-70 and 28-90 AF lenses. On the manual, I've yet to get the hang of it. I think I relied a lot on CIF, and peak focus, while having its charms, just doesn't equate. at least for me anyway. I wonder if this means I should've just stuck to my k100d and not bought any other cams? ... nah....

Not sure if I am the Dave in question (it's common name), but if so, I used a K5.

I still have the K20D just in case.., but much prefer to use the K5.

Sorry, you are the one in question. I'm not as familiar with what's in your bag as I am with some of these folks. Your profile doesn't list a K-5 so I assumed you were using the K20D. I'll take the hit for this one, but my next mistake I will be blaming on low-level bureaucrats.

Many thanks for hosting again, pentaximus. Real slice of life shots and great spring captures this week. I love the street shots and the two stunning shots from ruggiex. Here are a few of mine, all from the same place - I'm visiting a local arboretum because a group of us here are hosting an expo there later in the year.
