Thanks a lot guys, it's unusual to get fog in summer around here, much less twice in a week or two so I was out early as I could with the camera. Wish I had a spot as good as the lake in Louisiana I used to go to but until I can get license and tags sorted out, I'm stuck with what I can get to on a bicycle. Texas has decided to make it incredibly expensive to transfer registration, looks like around $300 or so...and i have to jump through some hoops, get a copy of my birth certificate for a drivers license, even though my old license number is still on the computer, I gave the lady the number and she told me my name...and they still want to make me get a birth certificate...I haven't seen the damn thing in 40 years...

So anyway I digress...I have to drive as little as possible for now, and photo excursions are almost always on bicycle, and no killer spots around here. But I thought the highway shot was a good idea, it's a rural area with little traffic, almost always time to stop for 30 seconds and grab a shot.

Another from me I took this morning. Of course he had his back to me, but I think it came out pretty good in all, I got the catch light in his eye. Since I have multiple cataracts in each eye, I've had to resort to autofocus and center weighed metering, instead of my usual manual forcus/spot metering. And I see it's not quite in focus either. I am going to have to resort to a tripod instead of trying to handhold like I used to do too.



Pete, I remember having to have my birth certificate when I moved from Minnesota to Texas. Cost me not quite as much as yours will but I hadn't ever actually had a copy of mine.

Thanks for hosting Geomez, and just when I thought that I had missed out on last weeks POTW, I noticed that this one is until the 28th, and that means I can post some of my visit with my son to Rietvlei Nature Reserve (again). There are some great shots in this edition of POTW.

This Eland was close to the fence and though quite jittery at every move I made, it remained standing here for a long time. Quite special to see one so close as they are usually seen far away. This is the world's largest antelope I am told.


The saddest commentary ever- the Rhino's in the reserve have all had their horns cut off, with a view to saving their lives from the scourge of poachers. Just does not look right.

I understand that. Im an MG guy (of which they have one that was raced at Le Mans) and British car guy through and through. I love the Aston but man, that Alfa is just SO pretty.
