POTW #274 - 14 July through 28 July 2013
Posted By: geomez, 07-14-2013, 06:57 PM

Welcome to another round of Picture of the Week. This is edition #274 covering 14 July through 28 July 2013.

POTW is a great spot to show off any shots you take in the upcoming week, or last week that you haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

Same rules:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.
2) 5 or less images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big.
3) Any Pentax or Samsung camera, film or digital.

The current host will invite a new host via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

Here are the records of previous POTW threads:

Great Birthday image geomez and thanks for hosting.
The Carolinas have been inundated with heavy rains for three consecutive weeks so sun has been a rare commodity. Three of us get together infrequently for a week to build period furniture pieces. This bracket clock was the prototype for this year built by the gentleman chiseling one of a run of four more in Black Walnut. Although the casework is new, the lower dial face is actually a late 18th century English piece. Unfortunately I was gluing resawn heart pine beams making four rustic table tops for a relative.

Thanks Geomez for hosting

@SpecialK the Cockroach just caught my attention, It's really big, I didn't see one in this size.

Sunday evening we happened to sit in a Latin American bar/cafe in Kuala Lumpur, they had music and live dance, Here is the one shot I managed to get

Thanks for hosting geomez, and nice photo to start the proceedings, maybe it's the glasses, but the neighbor looks like Tina Fey.

Kyle, nice variety and all good, that cockroach is big, but that butterfly is huge (or a very small child)

I think we're finally out of the rains here, pretty odd for July. I didn't know you had such talent besides photography. That finished case is beautiful, it's nice you can find old faces to use. Do you put key wind movements in those? Very nice swallowtail shot too.

Cool shot, you did a great job of catching the movement.

Some from a bike ride yesterday, we saw a lot of different light in 4 miles.

Just as we left town these clouds were blowing up from the east.

Some flare and rays from a bike ride with the Q, the sun coming across this freshly mown hay was hard to resist. I had a CP on the lens and it helped some.

Just a few minutes later rode around the corner and one of the most vibrant rainbows appeared. As I dug the Q out of my pocket I accidentally put the camera into a mode that shot in bright and jpg, but it really doesn't look that different that it was with that special light you sometimes get with storms. Fortunately (since I had the Q and not the K-30) we only experienced sprinkles:

The other end, only this end had the double rainbow and they were broken in the middle:

Haha she definitely does in the picture more so than in real life. I hadn't noticed.

Lovely shots everyone and thank you for hosting geomez. Reminds me that I haven't actually seen a rainbow for far too long. Here are a few of mine during a week of amazing summer weather, pretty rare in these parts:

Castle Hill, a Bronze Age hilltop fort near here:

A cavalryman of 1812, part of the "Battle Prom" company which gave a fab open air concert at Blenheim Palace with canons, fireworks,
the 1812 Overture and much picnicking:

"Peace in the Park", an annual festival near here in a converted stately home and garden.

From the Flower Porn Palace, but a particularly nice rose

Good variety of images. That's some cockroach! The butterfly shot is lovely Mecrox. Here in France we have had the Bastille Day fireworks, two different locations on consecutive nights:

Wow, Dr Orloff, those are amazing fireworks. The colours in the second shot with the reflections in the lake are wonderful.
