#254 Nobody At the Park
Posted By: Paleo Pete, 08-13-2013, 08:49 AM

I had no idea what to do for this week's challenge, I'm normally into wildlife photography and wanted to step outside my usual style. So I looked around and there was an empty playground not far away and that was it. Most of the time when you see pictures of parks and playgrounds, you see kids everywhere...so let's make it a bit tougher. NO people, just the park. This can be a city park, school playground, theme park, but no people in it, show us the park itself.

Rules are as follows:

1. Post one photo (max 1024 X 1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3.Post your single photo in this thread. If it's not obvious, explain what motivated you to submit the photo and how you feel it represents the weekly theme.
4.The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5.The judge will pick the winner, who will then host and judge the next week's challenge.
6.The challenge closes after seven days. This allows a day for the judge to pick the winners.
7. Any Pentax (or Samsung) DSLR is acceptable.
8. Photos can be from any time frame, not just the week of the current challenge.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge of the next week's challenge, the winner will PM the #2 winner and pass on the baton to that person to host and judge the next week's challenge.

Previous Weeks: 214 - Physical Strain, 215 - The Daily Grind, 216 - Colours of Nature, 217 - Heavy Industry, 218 - Wisdom, 219 - Surprise, 220 - Blue, 221 - Vanishing Point, 222 - Motion, 223 - Juxtaposition, 224 - Metals, 225 - Firelight, 226 - The (Not so) Mundane, 227 - Angles, 228 - Theatre, 229 - Does Not Belong, 230 Breaking the Rules, 231 - Cold as Ice, 232 - Selective Colour, 233 - The Dark Side, 234 - Repetition, 235 - Dramatic Angles, 236 - Dramatic Skies, 237 - Colour and Contrast, 238 The Human Shadow, 239 - Nature Does Have It's Casualties, 240 - A Working Class Hero, 241 - Wild Spaces, 242 - Old, Ancient, Antique, 243 - Wired, 244 - Reflections, 245 - Bridging the Gap, 246 - The Thin Slice, 247 - Upside Down , 248 - Surreal, 249 - Grounded, 250 - Gold, 251 - The Earth's Bones, #252 - Water, #253 Fog or Mist

To get you started:

I only have a couple of examples, and only one is available to post so this should give you the idea

The vibrant colours at this abandoned play park hint at the children that are not there.

This is the dog park where I walk my dog. It was a blizzard day and not a dog in sight!

And still a couple of days to go...I can see this is going to be a tough one to judge. Why couldn't I do something simple to judge for a theme? Like 3 tornadoes over the Grand Canyon during an ice storm with a 700mm lens...now that would be pretty easy to judge...ok my luck, it would happen twice that week...and half of PF would be there....

A beautiful Sunday morning & an empty park (altho it'll probably be busy later today).

Difficult and very interesting subject. The entries so far are high level, so this is my humble addition.
The picture was taken in a small amusement park:

Numbers

This was my second choice.

Clou, you are too modest-that's a super shot. If I may follow your footsteps and in humility suggest you remove the black dot on the left.

Here's mine. In this image all children have been digitally removed - Now if only in real life it could be so easy. And lest our Judge starts looking for evidence that kids have been immorally removed, there were none.

OK this challenge is officially closed, now I have the dubious honor of trying to figure out who wins...
