Weekly Challenge #51: S-Curve
Posted By: atupdate, 03-23-2008, 01:55 PM

Welcome to Weekly challenge #51.

S-Curve.

Borrowed this idea from another photo site I participate in, DPChallenge.com. An S-curve is a line (often in the shape of an 'S') that leads the viewer through the image. Use the classic S-Curve to compose your image.

An example is attached below.
Good luck everyone.

Challenge 51 will close at 5 PM (my time) Sunday March 30. 2008.

The rules are as always:

The rules:
1. Post ONE photo (max 800x800) as a response to THIS post.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme. It can be colour or B&W, your choice.
3. You can offer as much or as little additional information as you wish, but I'd be interested to know the location/event/whatever being depicted.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and chose 1 of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. The challenge runs for 7 days plus a day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera will do or a Samsung DSLR.

Berchtesgaden

I really had to scratch around to find an image that matched this theme.

The weather here at the moment is a bit too depressing for me to adopt the obvious tack of going out seeking a new image.

There are a lot of water shots , so I was looking for something different. Here's a "S" curve that was not negotiated that well. Windy , steep and dangerous

While camping I saw this tree and almost pee's my pants.. lol... Ran to the camper yelling.. I found my S curve.. I found my S curve.. LOL.. (i had everyone looking while driving to the camp spot).. lol.. ok .. yep.. I have lost it.. but dang it sure is fun!!!

I do have a few more of this wonderful tree... it had so many wonderful angles and about 6 huge limbs like the "s" hovering over the tent....

A great bunch of entries for this challenge....

and I do mean bunch. 27 by my count so far. Of course there is room for more.

Just a heads-up. I PM'd a couple of people regarding their images looking a little soft. Both were unaware that downsizing an image for posting on the web will soften a picture. Please remember to sharpen your images a little bit after downsizing. For those with Unsharp Mask (USM) available, I find a radius between 0.75 and 1 and a threashod between 75% and 100% generally works well.

Kewl concept, and contributions. This seems to meet the criteria, in an abstract sorta way... (forward & reverse S'es big & small)
