Weekly Challenge #51: S-Curve
Posted By: atupdate, 03-23-2008, 01:55 PM

Welcome to Weekly challenge #51.

S-Curve.

Borrowed this idea from another photo site I participate in, DPChallenge.com. An S-curve is a line (often in the shape of an 'S') that leads the viewer through the image. Use the classic S-Curve to compose your image.

An example is attached below.
Good luck everyone.

Challenge 51 will close at 5 PM (my time) Sunday March 30. 2008.

The rules are as always:

The rules:
1. Post ONE photo (max 800x800) as a response to THIS post.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme. It can be colour or B&W, your choice.
3. You can offer as much or as little additional information as you wish, but I'd be interested to know the location/event/whatever being depicted.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and chose 1 of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. The challenge runs for 7 days plus a day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera will do or a Samsung DSLR.

I've got lots of phots with curved sight lines

But not very many with an "S" curve in them. This one comes close I think. Taken one foggy November morning. DS, Tamron 90mm F2.8 macro; f4.5 at 1/500

While scanning through my picture files I spied this photo. It's pretty 'touristy' and not very 'artsy'. Taken in Toronto at the Chinese lantern display at Ontario Place on the waterfront a couple of years ago with my *ist DS. Lot's of S curves on this huge floating lantern. It's hard to get a handle on the size but I would estimate that it's about 15 feet tall at the center.

If they have it set up again this year I would highly recommend you visit with your Pentax camera. It is a real feast for the eyes after the sun goes down.
