Posted By: Tsukiouji, 09-08-2013, 04:02 PM

For this particular challenge let's take our lenses' hoods off! In a certain way similar the the sun stars theme, a curse and a blessing, and also quite a cliché these days — Lens Flare.

(Photos for the Week #36 competition are to be taken between Sep 9, 2013 and Sep 15, 2013.)

Rules
1. Anyone and everyone interested in challenge is eligible. The goal continues to be
have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-5 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color

keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. Since this project is about technique, and not camera, shots taken by non Pentax cameras are allowed.
Cameras may be SLRs, DSLRs, Point & Shoot, Medium Format, et cetera.

black and white, sepia, monotone, etc., for any of the other themes.
7. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is
active to be eligible for judging.
8. Any picture taken from thread start date to listed closing date is acceptable.

Waiting for the correct sun angle. High noon just isn't doing it for me. But at least I have my lens picked for it.

Here's a sample (not for judging);

Not the best one of the day by far but it still put a smile on my face when I saw it. So decided to upload this one. To be honest I am not sure how I got the smiley. The eyes I understand it is the smile I am not sure of. I have a couple of ideas but not definite. I was using an old A 35-80 lens w/ no filter.

Confined to the home and church today, so I thought I would give the church's window a shot. Here's one of several I like.

Great entries here everyone. I may not have time to judge this until Tuesday so if you still want to show your "flare" for photography you have a last minute opportunity!

Lens Flare "Sunbeam"

Hope I'm not too late for this submission. This shot was taken this past weekend while hiking the Genessee River Gorge in Letchworth State Park, New York, over the Lower Falls. The camera is a "new to me" Sony RX100 and I had a polarizer on it via an adapter. Since the camera is new, I noticed that a lot of the filtered shots were plagued by flare and mostly "ruined." However, on this one, the B&W conversion almost makes the flare appear as a sunbeam, so my wife thought anyway!
