POTW #281- 15 September-29 September 2013
Posted By: noelcmn, 09-22-2013, 02:13 PM

Welcome to another round of Picture of the Week. This is edition #281 covering 15 September through 29 September.

Many thanks to Noelcmn who hosted last week’s POTW thread.

POTW is a great spot to show off any shots you take in the upcoming week, or last week that you haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

Same rules:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.
2) 5 or less images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big.
3) Any Pentax or Samsung camera, film or digital.

The current host will invite a new host via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

Here are the records of previous POTW threads:

Yesterday, I took the 13mm with me, since there was a bit of a dust storm going on, and I wanted some scene shots of it. When I got to the park, I decided to just keep going with that lens. I've never used anything wider than 30mm here, so this was a nice change of pace.
Those are indeed great! 13mm is really a fun and interesting FL for me.
I like the last one more, it's an stunning shot! well done.

Well, I couldn't get online last week, rain knocked out power and neighbor's wireless was down, they finally got it rebooted 2 days ago...so I took some pictures...yeah what else is new? Like I really need an excuse...

Lizard out on the patio, just the 50mm f1.7

First time I've had a chance at a Damselfly this year, 50mm f1.7 lens and 25mm extension tube.

The Five Lined Skink is one of THE most skittish critters I've ever tried to photograph, never lets me get within 6 or 8 feet and scoots under a pile of leaves...ZIP...This one was on the concrete guard rail of a bridge and sat on the side, actually let me get a foot away for a few close up shots with the 50mm. We also have another larger Skink here that is just as skittish, usually I have to use a 135mm to get anything at all, from 10 feet away...same for this guy so this was a very unusual photo op.

And a decent sunset a few days ago, same lens.

Neighborhood walk, last night I walked the dogs then took them home and walked the K-30 and a tripod, it was just too nice out. We live close to the high school football field and there was a home game.

Just down the street

The games was over and the band marched a couple blocks to the high school. I think I needed a little slower shutter speed on these to make them a little more abstract

Fall in Cochin

As usual, some fabulous images in this thread I didn't get as much time to take photos where my meeting was this past week, but I did stop on the highway to march up a hill to catch this displaced lighthouse in the middle of the prairies.

This thread is another all-time classic week. I love all the shots of dogs, birds, lizards and other animals, the night shots, the wild and windy autumnal scenes and the close-ups among many others. A century ago, people would have thought it pure fantasy that it would be possible to see pretty well instantly high-resolution images of where people live and what they are up to across the world from England to Australia and back via North America.

Quite agree with those sentiments Mecrox. But now why leave South Africa out of the equation .
