POTW #285 -21 October -27 October 2013
Posted By: Alkazalsir, 10-20-2013, 11:10 AM

Welcome to another round of Picture of the Week. This is edition #285 covering 21 September through 27 October 2013.

Many thanks to Noelcmn  who hosted last week’s POTW thread.

POTW is a great spot to show off any shots you take in the upcoming week, or last week that you haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

Same rules:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.
2) 5 or less images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big.
3) Any Pentax or Samsung camera, film or digital.

The current host will invite a new host via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

Here are the records of previous POTW threads:

My life has been stressful lately, zapping my creative energy, right through the height of the fall colour I'm afraid. However I took the camera into the yard for the start of fall cleanup and caught a little bit of remaining colour.

Beautiful pics Joe, hopefully getting some good photos helps you lose some of the stressful feeling.

I've had a busy weekend hitting a nature preserve, driving around and scouting for the full moon, and shooting the full moon Friday night and a a walk in the woods today. And watch some college football, MLS, and EPL between.

Thanks for hosting Alkazalsir, and already some super pics here. I like the statues Alkazalsir, and I must ask- pumpkin put there deliberately? Its a nice touch. Stephen, as usual, super train shots from you, that first one is amazing. Tom, I am loving your contributions from your trip to catch that Super moon. You and cows That Barn shot is super-B/W works well.
Had a bit of time last week, so the clicking was good. Here's a start, as I'm still processing some the shots.
Johannesburg from a Stadium

Had a brilliant double Rainbow on Saturday, and grabbed the Camera to catch it-I'm so sorry I did not take these with the use of a Tripod. Anyway, I am happy with capturing one of God's wonderful nature displays.

Some Abstracts-another colorful shot with some water drops

And another water drop-saw this bubble in the water drop, and promptly too a few shots-again without a tripod-I'm naughty on that score.

Have a great week everyone.

Stephen - Great night shot of the train. I spent 36 hours on a train one time and loved it. It's a great way to travel (if you have the time). Brings back some fond memories.
Jmschrei - Stress hasn't done away completely with the creative side. Love the contrast in that second picture. Life and death so perfectly portrayed. Great shot!
Tom - Looks like Amish country. Black and white really does make the barn shot stand out. Am wondering how it would look with a color extraction. Just one of those Hmmm moments. Those Holsteins are a lot of fun. Reminds me of grandpa's milk cows. (And just for fun, did you hear that West Virginia outlawed the round bales of hay)?
Noel, The statue is in front of the neighbor's house, two houses down. They had pumpkins all over the place. The little one's in the bowl just kind of caught my creative eye. All great pictures but especially love the double rainbow. Don't worry about not using a tripod. I use one only when I am doing portraiture. Otherwise, I tend to miss the moment.

Looks like we are off to a great start, keep them coming.

I seem to have left out Joe from my previous comments, my apologies Joe. Defiantly Green is superb. I like it.Lovely details too. And here's hoping that whatever is causing the stress will be sorted out, and your creativity gets going again.

Lessee...Friday was spent just wandering around watching people.

Vertically stitched panorama. The spot near the top is a climber.

Saturday was an art festival.

Sardine car.

Art appreciation 101.

Dancing

And then off to the desert for some alone time.

Nuthin' here but dust and coyotes.

Gift Horse, I feel the same way about Art Appreciation. The dust and coyotes is more my speed. Love the contrasting colors of the big city but the simplicity of the desert is more to my personal tastes. I haven't ever been able to actually shoot stars so they look like stars. Great shot. Looks like a great place to get away.

thanks for hosting alkazallsir!

what a great collection of shots this week! am about to grab my morning nap but thought i'd quickly post this from wolfiepup's breakfast this morning. her tongue is covering it, so you'll have to take my word for it, but she has two little buds along her bottom gum. that's what's been keeping me busy for the last week and a half. *shakes head*

i love that she has a curl on her head though. wolfieboy keeps on quoting, 'there was a little girl, with a curl on her forehead...'

taken on the kx, 17-70. will comment and post more later.

Nice!

Thunderfest/MusicFest in Covina. Somewhere around here I lost a spare SD card...

MAVTV IndyLights 500. Hard to get cars at 212MPH, so this was during a caution...I did a rookie fubar making movies with my P&S - got none :-(

The annual Japan-America Society of Southern California kite event at Seal Beach. Noticed I was missing my lens cap even before getting to the beach...(I have since found it at home).
