POTW #286 20th October - 3rd November
Posted By: StephenHampshire, 10-28-2013, 12:07 AM

Welcome to another round of Picture of the Week. This is edition #285 covering 20 October to 3rd November 2013.

Many thanks to Alkazalsir who hosted last week’s POTW thread.

POTW is a great spot to show off any shots you take in the upcoming week, or last week that you haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

Same rules:

1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.
2) 5 or less images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big.
3) Any Pentax or Samsung camera, film or digital.

The current host will invite a new host via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

Here are the records of previous POTW threads:

Here's looking forward to the normal fantastic photos!

Some very nice shots, I particularly like Mecrox's low level/reflection shot and casil's leaves.....

More great shots! Ones that stood out to me were the ant on the leaf, the high key dog in snow, and the reflections.

Thanks for hosting Stephen - and nice photos so far this week. I've been absent from this thread for awhile, so I thought I'd pop in. These are all from a dogwalk on a brilliant October morning:

Stephen, thanks for the continuing inspiration and hosting.
Well, retirement didn't last long as my old school begged me to take an interim position for two and a half months. I keep thinking K-3 but the financial director ensures direct deposit. Less than a week back and two football games, volleyball match, softball game, Jazz Band Brochure portraits etc., etc., and an homage to the B/W big band films of yesteryear with our band director plus the agony of defeat in a 2-0 middle school loss.

love the shadows in that first pic, lukulele!

looks like i am on a roll this week.

put the tamron 90mm macro with a pka on the k-01 rather than the kx so as to reduce the amount of twisting required when shooting and carrying a baby at the same time.

am happy with the results.

i love that wash of bokeh colour. if i ever talk about wanting to get another macro lens someone needs to slap me

this one probably needs a bit of pp work to brighten up a little, but i love how 'real' the flower looks...

-Ok, I am seriously on a roll. Had a brainwave and dusted off my 103a tamron adaptall 80-210 this afternoon. My memory of this lens was that it was super sharp and I was right. Put it on my k-01 and off we went. Wolfiepup rides along with me on walks in her baby bjorn and often with the macro lenses i have to bend down quite sharply to get close to the subject. with the longer reach of the 80-210 I found I didn't have to creep up as close, which made for a more comfortable ride for wolfiepup.

There is a macro function on this lens, although I'm not sure if I can activate it or not. I basically just shot everything at 210mm.

Look at that bokeh!

There's a little bit of green fringing, but not much..

and some pyrethrum flowers to break it up a bit

and to top it all off, here's the wolfiepup, complete with her two budding teeth

and one from earlier this afternoon with the 17-70. LOVE 17mm..

I know I'm the host but here's one from Tuesday taken with the F50 1.7 I do like the rendering of this lens...

Great shots everyone! That big band leader is a standout, excellent. Love the no skating in the flower bad sign, and the Charlotte skyline sure has grown.

Here are a couple more from the week.
