#271: Silhouette
Posted By: mde1970, 01-08-2014, 02:11 PM

Firstly many thanks for hosting last weeks challenge sealonsf. Some real nice entries last week so it came as a bit of a surprise to be picked out

This week’s challenge is ‘Silhouette’ - Not sure if this has been a subject in recent weeks/months so apologise if it has. I don’t think people need any examples/explanation for this one but have posted what I think is the only Silhouette shot I have in my collection. Perhaps if I see a few other great shots it will spur me on to try and shoot a few more.

This challenge will run until Tuesday, 14 January, midnight PST.

The fine print:
1. Post one photo (max 1024 X 1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single photo in this thread. If it's not obvious, explain what motivated you to submit the photo and how you feel it represents the weekly theme.
4.The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5.The judge will pick the winner, who will then host and judge the next week's challenge.
6.The challenge closes after seven days. This allows a day for the judge to pick the winners.
7. Any Pentax (or Samsung) DSLR is acceptable.
8. Photos can be from any time frame, not just the week of the current challenge.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge of the next week's challenge, the winner will PM the #2 winner and pass on the baton to that person to host and judge the next week's challenge.

Took this not too long ago, hope you enjoy
Gear and Settings: Pentax K-500, smc PENTAX-DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL, 1/250 @ f/3.5, 18mm, ISO 200, -1 exposure comp.
Just goes to show what the cheaper cameras can do I guess.
What inspired me to take this photo: I loved the way the light was shining through the trees, and so I snapped this after setting -1 EV comp. Kinda regretting not shooting this in RAW so I could enhance it a little in post (this image is untouched) but what can you do.
EDIT: Sorry guys, I should have resized the image before posting it. My bad, I'll get the hang of this forum thing eventually. ;-)

Looking at you.

I have many "silo" shots that I was thinking of submitting and out of the blue this opportunity presented itself.while I was pondering which photo to submit. It's a borderline "silo" shot but maybe black cats can be lucky.--charliezap
Here is a collage of some of my pondered shots but I'll settle on my cat for an official submission.

but what can you do.
Good to see a new participant in these comps but please resize your image to 1000pix on the longest side.

Why is just page 4 on this challenge making me scroll to the right to see the whole page?Does it have anything to do with the big file shot submitted by "tobydoespentax"?

Sometimes this page loads normally for me and other times not. I've sent a PM to Toby asking him to resize his picture, which seems the reason why the page will sometimes paint too wide.

Enter your shot directly into this thread as an attachment or a link to shot on flickr or some other external site. Make sure it is no larger than 1024 x 1024. This is weekly challenge run by participants, the winner gets the honor of picking the next theme, creating the new thread and judging.

This week's host has quite a task on his hands to judge this one!

Stunners here. Such creativity is wonderful to see. Mde 1970, I don't envy you on this one. Seems you chose a very popular subject.
My more humble submission- Rietvlei Dam with a winter sunset.
