Potw #6
Posted By: Bramela, 04-13-2008, 01:16 AM

Hi, it seems I am hosting this weeks POTW from "Down Under"
POTW #6. 6th to 20th April.
Looking at Dave's #5 you all supported with some really great shots.
Lets all come up with some equally good material for this weeks.

Here's the link to the First POTW #1 to get an idea of how it works https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/mini-challenges-games/22484-potw-1-a.html

The rules are simple:
1) No theme just your favourite stuff.
2) lets keep it to about 4-6 images just so the thread doesn't get too big each week
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Runs for 7 days April 6th to April 13th
5)Enter anything you shot last week or this current week until the thread closes.

Next Sunday I'll pick a host for the next week from the entries.

Here's my shots to start, taken this morning, a very foggy morning with a great deal of dew.

I like it. The colors are really good and the detail is superb.

That first shot looks like something from the Dinosaur era.

Late entry, taken last Saturday as a part of a series. I submitted one similar to this to the weekly, but this is a slightly different version. Of tyhe photos I took that week, this series was my favorite.

I shouldn't reveal this... but... this is my back yard. That probably devalues the photo. I mention this because it puts me in mind of a quote that imparts a very important principle for us, as photographers....

“Most people are only peripherally aware of the world that surrounds them, especially if their surroundings are familiar… Some people feel more alive when they travel and visit unfamiliar places or foreign countries because at those times sense perception - experiencing - takes up more of their consciousness than thinking.” ~ Eckhart Tolle

Here's to NOT thinking...

I like this series and there are so many good pictures in this weeks POW.

I went to the Roger Williams Botanical Garden outside of Providence RI this weekend and got a lot of nice flower pictures to add.

1. this was my favorite and looks even better in a large format.

2. They had an exhibit on carnivorous plants that was interesting:

3. new evergreen growth

4. Lots of regular flower pictures:

the plugged was pulled several weeks ago (story Here ) it appears in remission now for the next several weeks anyway I have been told that is the best one can hope for, a temporary relief, it is rarely cured

Haha

I know what you mean , Dave . I have no " excuse " to stay inside when it rains though we're almost heading to dry season here .

May I suggest , I'm sure you know this already , you try shooting a low speed for some shot . Falling snow can create a "dreamy effect " on landscape . Have fun .

Tran

PS I should have picked an easier nick . Everybody is calling me "Dan" ! I guess I do have a Pentax NAME from now on
