Welcome to another round of Picture of the Week. This is edition #301 covers 2nd February 2014 - 16th February 2014.

Some cool stuff showing up already. Nice shot of the SR 71 Special K

Went out for a walk by the lake yesterday, wooded area and overcast day, had to bring the flash and was amazed how many mushrooms and related fungus was out there. I looked around for everything I could find growing on trees and dead wood. Plenty variety there...this is just a few of them. Some cropped pretty tight to show detail, others cropped very large to show the whole group. All with 50mm f1.7.

Correction, only the last one is a large crop...just realized it. Others are no bigger than 2048x1536 resized to 1024x768.

A few from today's "Epic storm" in the the US South. In reality, the young town folks are bar crawling in the ice and snow and the TV news is non-stop coverage. Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh!

Moday after work I had my oil changed and decided to walk around the car dealer's back lot. They started construction on a new building but the severe cold has stopped it for now.

Wonderful shots as usual in this weeks POTW, starting with that awesome opening shot from Bucfan1234. Nice moment captured there Bucfan1234! And I'm particularly blessed with so many snow pics this week-Tom, those are awesome, especially the last set from you! Lukelele's birds in the snow, and Clou's underground stuff. SpecialK into flying (again ) and Paleo Pete shrooms. Very colorful PP.

A contribution from me- some from the Single in February Challenge!



Just like this shot- the old dear "retrieved" these rather large glasses from her children who were using them for candles. She is cleaning them, putting on some pewter and some other decorations on them. Such beautiful glasses (3 of them) and I would prefer them as you see them here-though I dare say some would prefer to have them filled with something reddish in color

hahaha @ Noel! I've been noting with interest the baby and toddler shots you've been taking. Do you send a copy of the shots to the parents too? I enjoyed your selfie shot in the glass. Love how the old lady held the glass reverentially with two hands and you're smack in the middle of the reflection

Great collection of Wolfiepup pics! Looks like you've got the knack on that 03 already. That's got to be the coolest Q lens.
Here's a couple from after work Tuesday. This area is called the Scioto Marsh, it's the headwaters of the Scioto River.. Back in the 1880s they drained and cleared the marsh and it became some of the richest farm land around, for years they grew onions and carrots, more typical farm crops now. I had went out there to try to spot a snowy owl, there was one there over the weekend and it still may be in the area. I saw thousands of Horned Larks, but none close or still enough for a good shot.

Southern Frozen Precipitation, Round 2, Overnight Sleet and 6 more hours of big flakes including one four legged snow monster. Met my new best friend today, square blade shovel.
