POTW # 304 covering weeks 23 February - 09 March 2014

Welcome to another round of Picture of the Week. This is edition #303 covers 23 February - 09 March 2014
POTW is a great spot to show off any shots you take in the upcoming week, or last week that you haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

Some rules:
1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.
2) 6 or less images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big.
3) Any Pentax or Samsung camera, film or digital.

The current host will invite a new host via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

My humble apologies for the lateness of this POTW. Almost forgot about it!
Lets start with a few.
It has been raining a lot of late.

Thanks for hosting Noel, and posting those fabulous "wet" photos. Phil, great collection of portraits, nice to have friends that will let you do that, probably cost you in rounds.
I posted an ice fishing shot from Saturday on last week's thread, but here's another and a few more from my drive around Saturday:

Thanks for hosting again noel, hope it's not as slow as last week was. Don't know what happened, but almost nothing last week...

Went out for a few shots a couple of days ago with the K 50mm f1.4 the Mayhaw bushes out back are blooming. Usually these are about the first fruit blooms of the year. Peaches blooming now too, and of course below freezing weather has probably wiped those out...Anyhoo here are some Mayhaw blooms

Got a new to me Vivitar 200mm with TX mount, $23 so not a bad deal at all, seems to work fine, now I have a Nikon and a Canon adapter for the thing I don't need but that's another story...off to fleabay I go I guess...

So I got outside and set up on te bird feeder, easiest way to get some shots but really overcast and grey so not that impressive, had to use a flash. Can't wait for a sunny day to give the 200 and 300 both a serious tryout. (also got a 300mm that's where the Canon adapter came from) Interesting thing is, this is the exact same 200mm Vivitar I had before, serial number says it was made by Tokina, same month and year, a bit earlier serial number. So far it's doing fine.

Wow everyone, some really good stuff here as usual.
SpecialK- is there a rule that says "Pentax only"! Lets see some anyway!
Clou-fantastic series of street art- I like Graffiti- and consider it "the more real" communications about life! No 1 and especially no 5 is WAY WEIRD. The other day there was a real advertising shoot with a real Ronald MacDonald at Zoo Lake, where I was doing my daily walk. I was so sorry I did not have my camera with me-he was a friendly chap- but not friendly enough to give out free hamburgers. If he was, I would have taken some with my phone! Ah well, maybe I'll meet Chicken Licken when I do have my camera with me- that's another franchise around here!
Lukulele-Fantastic-that 3rd one is just plain awesome-stunning composition!
Beardedclam-WELCOME, A hearty welcome to POTW, lovely to have you join us, hope we see you a lot more! Only one posting? Lets have some more-you can post up to 6, and special concession to newbie's-you can post more, like a lot of other not-so-newbie's. That is a lovely Abstract! I'm tempted to ask what it is, but probably some ice patterns?
Paleo Pete, as you know, I always look forward to your contribution, a sure feast of birds images. Great stuff. That first Mayhaw bloom is another awesome shot! Solid composition!
Ramaseybuckeye-Another photographer whose contribution I always look forward to! That first one is amazing, which besides being fabulous, also reminded me that I was a very poor host for last weeks POTW. My apologies everyone. And that 2nd shot of the Barn-marvelous- love the colors on that one.
Papa Lazarou-what a wonderful collection of friends-I bet they are all proud and happy and probably all want a copy of those! Lovely and sharp! I have a friend that looks just like that guy in the 2nd photo- Bruce by name ( a fellow minister like myself) and my immediate reaction was "What's Bruce doing here?". The 3rd one is my favorite for some unknown reason-a real-in-your-face-i''ll-make-you-look-like-a-nerd distortion! The fellow with the beers oozes contentment- I wonder why?

Let's have some more Pentaxians.
And Oh, anyone interested in hosting next weeks POTW-Let me know before I send out irrevocable PM invites

Noel - Thanks, yes, for me Street Art is the mirror of society and its pains.
Papa Lazarou - Thanks!

A few more:

The title of the first is the pseudonym of the artist(s):

Friendly Fire II

Black - red - blue- white

Here I like the juxtaposition beween the graffiti in the foreground and the snippet of another graffiti in the background

Unbenannt

This is an hommage to Circus Roncalli, the lower part of the first has been replaced by a new graffiti:

Bernhard Paul & Clown

Zirkuspferd

Actually, yes :-)

Some rules:
1)
2)
3) Any Pentax or Samsung camera, film or digital.

I bought a used Canon body to put the new Tamron 150-600 on as that lens is not going to be be available for Pentax (unless they change their mind). But, the lens is on back order (for about 3 weeks so far). The funny part is there is a bug using the Ai AF mode (tracking) settings on older Canon bodies, so it appears the next batch of lenses is delayed at the factory while they figure it out. I have only the 18-55 kit (no hood) to play with. Ha-ha.

Thanks a lot. I'm always primarily after birds, but I like to try for different things whenever I see something worthwhile too. I transplanted the Mayhaws a foot tall or so around 15 years ago, from a spot out on the lake, now they are around 10-12 feet tall and I got 2 gallons of Mayhaws last year. Good jelly. Looking forward to warmer weather and lots os tiny flowers and insects...had enough winter...
