Hi, strangers! Thanks for hosting, mecrox. Long time no see!

It seems like every third March or so I pick up a new camera. Last time it was a used K-x. This time it's a brand new K-3. I like how this is going. So, I'm getting to know this beast of a camera. I also got the 18-135 WR lens. Bring on the rain...or the pollen, rather!

These first three are with the 18-135.

I love the colors I'm getting from these K-3 RAW files. This is straight from the K-3 via Aperture, no PP.

Dead water snake. Again, no PP.

Minimal PP here, just a WB tweak.

The rest of these are with the DAL 55-300. Here's the pollen.

Scary sight standing on second base!

And here's my nephew.

Thanks for letting me join in the fun.

Okay, I'm starting to wonder if my breath stinks or something. It's 5:30 on Monday evening. Where the heck is everybody?

Lively shots there, Pentaximus, congrats on your K3 and 18-135mm. Great colours. Must be really nice to have.

I guess others will turn up at some stage. Er, I mean I hope so. We'll soon see

Thanks for hosting, Mecrox.

I have about 1,300 vacation shots to work through, but here are a few.

The musical instrument museum in Phoenix. Everything you could think of, and more...

Casa Grande ruins.

Biosphere 2.

Sabino Canyon.

Tombstone.

Neon Boneyard.

Congratulations on that new camera and lens. I got the 18-138 with a K-30 about a year and half ago and love it, it's a great lens. I've shot in rain many times, pollen too. Looks like your doing well with that beautiful K-3.

I've had a few weeks of relative inactivity, just too busy. I kind of made up for it this weekend.

Thanks for hosting mecrox! Some high quality images posted so far. I've kind of forgotten about this thread, so here's a few to compensate...
Been using the "vintage" gear lately (actually most of my stuff is "vintage" ). Here's a few *istD shots, the first two with the A35/2.8, and the 3rd with a K55/1.8.

Spring is most definitely here:

Spring also means unstable weather:

...but also colorful blooms:

Weston Bend State Park

I was going to post a couple photos, but something really stinks around here, so I'm gonna go find something else to do.

---------- Post added 04-07-14 at 07:16 PM ----------

Wesley and I took a walk around Weston Bend SP in NW Missouri the other day. There wasn't much to see, yet I had my K30 and K135/2.5 with me, so I had to take photos of something!

Tree trunk and roots in B/W

Barbed wire fencing is consumed by the tree

Finally, some dead leaves. Wow, what a day? I kind of liked how the LR infrared preset rendered this with a sort of dreamy look. Grain was also added.

I agree with you JcDoss, there's a stench around here. The poor fan on the computer is struggling . Lovely to see you here again Pentaximus, and some shots of the kids! That one of the kid and his hat is so special! And the rest of the gang here, some super shots. Thanks Mecrox, for taking on hosting duties. Here are some from me!

These are from a trip to Ocracoke National Seashore last Monday:

And a few from the ferry ride back to the mainland the next day:

I hope you had a great vacation, @SpecialK. Certainly looks like you were busy! 1300 images is a serious trove. I love the picture of the Wild West stagecoach.

Great set there, @ramseybuckeye. I love the first picture. We don't have birds like that here. If I saw one, I'd probably think it was a pheasant - but the birds in your picture look too sinister to eat!

Yes, @paulh, spring is here and it is fab. Cameras come outside time. All those bright colours, light skies and, as in your last shot, all the flowers and the bokeh! Bluebells should be out in the woods here in a week or two.

Nice B/W set there, @jcdoss. I love B/W and I would rather like that K 135mm too, it seems a great lens. I do like the last picture using the IR preset. It is dreamy. I've started to add a bit of grain to my own pictures, having got hold of some presets designed to give the look of classic BW films.

That is a super set, @noelcmn - bright, sharp and full of pop! The one with the three bottles of Love is an absolute classic, brilliant.

1,300 is what I had left when I posted these. I've already gone through about 750 :-)

Great set, @schnitzer79, with the fish-eye effect. I wonder where you took them? I love the old-looking bridge, very graceful.

Those are beautiful, peaceful shots, @Bill2849. It must be a special place. The egret (heron?) is a great one and the grey horse is just lovely. We've booked to do down to a fine stretch of coastline here in southern England but not for another month.

Thanks mecrox. I live in Cyprus, so these were taken at a nice location in the mountain area. Fish-eye pics were taken with the Samyang 8mm whereas the others using the Sigma 24-70 f2.8. Still experimenting with the Sammie since it was my first outing using it.

Schnitzer, I like the last one taken under the bridge (trolls' eye view?) quite a bit. Nice set!
