Posted By: Papa Lazarou, 04-28-2014, 01:02 AM

Welcome to another round of Picture of the Week. This is edition, #312, covers 21 April - 4 May 2014 . POTW is a great spot to show off any shots you take in the upcoming week, or last week that you haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

Some rules:
1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.
2) 6 or less images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big.
3) Any Pentax or Samsung camera, film or digital.

The current host will invite a new host via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

OK here we go with another POTW.

Visited Windsor Castle on Easter Monday. Weather was a bit hit and miss, but managed a few shots.

Looking forward to seeing everyone's pics.

Papa Lazarou, I love that last pic of yours

I took these pics over the weekend at the Mob Museum in Las Vegas.

Actual wall with blood and bulletholes from the Saint Valentines Day Massicre

Note the moire effect in this pic is due to the resizing. Clicking the pic will link you to a larger, moire free version.

My daughter is in the cast of Les Mis at her high school. I've only processed about half of what I shot during the dress rehearsal.

All images shot with my K-r and Promaster 28-200mm.

A little motion blur, oh well.

The last shot is stunning. The B&W conversion is perfect.

Interesting series. That was a fascinating time looking back but I'm not so sure I would think that if I lived it.

@cif: Where were these taken? The cliffs in the second image are impressive.

The picture was taken on the Danube river, on the border between Romania(right side) and Serbia(left side). The monastery name is Mraconia.

Thanks for hosting Papa, and for that brilliant display of Windsor Castle pics! I won't comment on every post because they are all good, what a great start to the week. I went to a photo walk event Saturday at a park about two hours away, but I left home with abiout five hours to get there via the back roads. Country road bridges have come a long way.

Were these taken in Northwest Ohio? That covered bridge could be worth a visit in the fall. Nice series.

Tim, they were closer than you think, the first three in Logan County, The covered bridge in Union, the old barn in Madison and the new bridge on the Madison-Franklin line. Let me know if you want specifics. You can find the Covered Bridge here, there are actually two other covered bridges really close, and according to that may others not too far away. I know I'm going pretty close in June for a wedding that I'm going to shoot for my nephew, so I'm going to scout it earlier. I would really like to get back in the fall if we get some good color this year. The dry weather of the last few years has kind of "dulled" the fall. That bridge sits in a pretty scenic spot.

Had to add a couple.

The bird that got me into bird photography...a bit of background...

Before I really got into photography much, I used a Yashica rangefinder 35mm my brother loaned me a bit. I lived outside Bryan Texas in the boonies, and along our driveway, about 3/4 mile, was this Roadrunner that I would see several times a week but always eluded me. I was clueless that the 50mm lens I was using wouldn't work well unless I was 4 feet away, but never did manage to get a shot of that Roadrunner. Then I got a Pentax KX and a 70-210, and was still unable to get the damn thing to let me close enough, the only shot I ever got he looked like a little gray smudge on a 4x6 print...

So yesterday I'm sitting in a lawn chair draining a bottle of water not paying much attention and saw motion. A neighbor had told me she saw a roadrunner a couple of weeks ago, I had watched a little but no sighting, then there the damn thing was 20 yards in front of me across the front yard. I managed to get a half dozen shots, here's the one that I think was second.

Cropped, otherwise no editing. I considered sharpening it, decided to leave it alone. But that's my first time ever to get a decent shot of a Roadrunner.

Also got a couple of good shots of another favorite, a Scissor Tailed Flycatcher. If you've never seen these guys, they can maneuver in the air like nothing else when they chase flying insects. This one let me get closer than they normally do, about 20 feet away at most.

And a first sighting for me, an Orchard Oriole not yet into adult coloring. I found out looking it up that the males in their first year are not the burnt orange color I expected to see, but yellowish.

I still haven't gotten a decent shot of an adult yet...

Many thanks for hosting, Papa Lazarou. That Bugatti - I mean wow. And good to see a Roadrunner, so that's what they look like. I still support Wil E Coyote. Here are a few of mine from out and about:
