Challenge #296 Triangles
Posted By: LarsW, 08-31-2014, 12:15 PM

Thanks Arjay Bee for last weeks challenge and excellent feedback and comments to all the surreal entries!

This week for triangles. Free interpretation: the main subject can be triangular shape, or the elements in your image can be corners in one or more triangles.

The Challenge will run until midnight next Sunday, September 7th, Central European Time (London + 1h)

Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.
Everyone is eligible to send in their best interpretation of the given theme, as long as the photo is taken with a Pentax/Samsung camera. Themes can be subject-oriented or technique-oriented.

Rules
1. Post ONE photo (max 1024x1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax (or Samsung DSLR) camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

Good luck!

Light Triangles

This was taken with my Pentax K-x and my M 50mm 1.7 lens at the NC Museum of Art.
Dappled light from above and to the side happened to fall in such a way as to create triangles of light on the lower corner of 2 adjacent walls and these two triangles create an illusion that the light potions of the wall are projecting like a pyramid from the wall itself.

Look Up!

Here's my triangle entry, taken in July 2014 at the 'Over The Edge' fund-raiser held by the Cancer League Of Colorado.
Over The Edge: Cancer League Colorado
Volunteers rappelling down the 28-story tower at 1625 Broadway. Each descent earned a $1,000 donation, and the young lady in the photo was on her second 'run', the man, his first.
Luckily on this day I had my trusty smc A 135mm f/2.8 along with other (short) primes, just enough reach for this scene.
K-5, A 135mm, f/4.5, 1/640s, ISO 200.

This was taken during a month-long tour of the Pacific Northwest shortly after moving to Idaho. It is the wheel of an old freight wagon on a rain-soaked train depot dock in Dayton, Washington. I've always liked photos that have a geometric theme and this caught my eye, especially the reflections in the damp wooden dock. A little "artistic" PP manipulation created what I thought was a more pleasing final result.
