Challenge #296 Triangles
Posted By: LarsW, 08-31-2014, 12:15 PM

Thanks Arjay Bee for last weeks challenge and excellent feedback and comments to all the surreal entries!

This week for triangles. Free interpretation: the main subject can be triangular shape, or the elements in your image can be corners in one or more triangles.

The Challenge will run until midnight next Sunday, September 7th, Central European Time (London + 1h)

Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.
Everyone is eligible to send in their best interpretation of the given theme, as long as the photo is taken with a Pentax/Samsung camera. Themes can be subject-oriented or technique-oriented.

Rules
1. Post ONE photo (max 1024x1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax (or Samsung DSLR) camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

Good luck!

Harthill Trig Point

Here's my attempt this week. A photograph I took last weekend a few hundred yards from home.
It is a Triangulation or "Trig" point. For anyone who doesn't know, they are used by cartographers for surveying when making accurate maps. Angles are measured between two other trig points (hence triangulation). With just a couple of accurately measured points to begin, you can map a whole country very quickly. They are now rendered redundant by the advent of GPS though I do still find them somehow romantic as an indication of the ingenuity of an age now passed.
The sky behind is criss-crossed by vapour trails creating triangles, seemingly emphasising its use... or at least I thought so when I took the shot!
Shot on my K3 with 18-135mm Pentax WR lens set at 48mm, f10, 1/500s ISO 100.

Eyes and nose.

My son was visiting with his cat and we had to separate him from our old, crotchety cat by a child's protective gate or all hell broke loose. I got this picture just a couple of days ago. I was about to search through my archives for images with triangles, but while processing this I noticed it has lots of triangles. The principal and most important one being formed with the 2 eyes and the nose as the apexes of the 3 corners.
