Project 52
Posted By: DanLoc78, 05-13-2008, 08:17 AM

Anyone interested in conducting a Project 52? My friend/coworker and I will be doing one beginning this week. You have one theme per week, and your picture must be taken during that week. it can be anything you deem to fit the theme, and you can provide a description, or not, up to you.

I'm in communication with Adam to see what the best format for this will be. We have 13 themes that will be recycled until the end of one year (52 weeks). Here are the themes in order.

1. history
2. shadows
3. wildlife
4. black and white
5. people
6. water
7. night scene
8. pride
9. textures
10. sports
11. macro
12. shapes
13. places

Let me know if there is any interest. I know some of these themes might overlap the monthly photo contest themes, but they're pretty simple and shouldn't be too tough to get on a weekly basis.

jshurak, we're definitely both in the right area for the first theme...that's for sure.

I agree with Dave. Posting pictures is the name of the game, so go for it.
Yes, it may create some duplication, but, what the heck!

I think this is a great idea, but why limit yourself to repeating themes? I've got a list of 250 Photography Themes on my blog. It shouldn't be difficult to eliminate some that are too specific and choose one for each week of the year.

I'm interested but I think the repeating themes makes some sense or this would be almost the same as the weekly challenge.

Peter Zack, I agree. I would like to recycle those 13 themes 4 times over the course of one year. Anyone that would like to participate will be able. I will begin another thread called Project 52, week one. And if I can figure out how to do a poll, we can have people vote to decide who's picture most effectively capture's the weekly theme.

a poll is fairly easy and Adam can help set up that voting thread. Just a matter of using the same format as the monthly contest. It will however take some work on your part to copy all the pictures and create the voting poll each week.

Sounds interesting...might not participate every single week (when things get busy at the office, I might go for a month without touching my camera), but it sounds like fun.

Basically axl it is a one year photography project. Each week there will be a different theme. This week (and until tuesday of next week) the theme will be history. So any picture you capture that you feel represents that theme, post it in the thread named Project 52, Week 1: History. Describe what motivated you to take the pic, or how you feel it represents the theme. After 13 weeks, we will restart the list of themes all over again.

So, at the end of one year we will have done each theme 4 times. make sense?
