#301 "Night Lights"
Posted By: elpolodiablo, 10-07-2014, 03:19 AM

Thanks sealonsf for selecting me as the winner for last week's challenge, for this week we will be looking into the light that break the bleakness of the night, AKA "Night Light"

Criteria is that it must be at night, any shot that has the sun or part of the sun is NOT allowed, twilight is fine though, main light source can be natural or artificial, so moonlight, star light, star trail, firefly or anything that shines at night is fine, city lights, car lights or bonfire or fireworks, light painting are all welcome! There must be other light source that I haven't thought of, so surprise me! Besides, with lunar eclipse coming tomorrow we should be seeing tons of red moon too!

A few shots to give you some ideas

That's what I got, feel free to interpret the theme the way you see fit.

The fine print:

The Challenge will run until midnight next Monday, 13/10/2014, whichever time zone you are in.

Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.

Rules
1. Post ONE photo (max 1024x1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax (or Samsung DSLR) camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

I took this picture during a session of "star trails" and in one shot I illuminated with a torch in front of my K10D putting my finger in front of the torch to create a warmer color

The result was fantastic because I created the trails of color with shades of different colors

and in the background .. the stars of heaven

the title of this photo is: Is there any life in space?

I like the topic for this week. As a matter of fact, it made me go out and take some pictures for the contest. So, here is my entry: Landhaus area, St. Pölten, at night.

P.S.: Lukulele, I like your photo!

Seoul Olympic Bridge

I really love this shot. I was stationed in Seoul South Korea from Jan 2008-March 2011. I was able to take this picture of the bridge while flying in a Black Hawk .

Went for a walk with a friend by Toronto lakeshore. Some long exposures were a good way to spend the time by the lake.

Beach at Ponce Inlet by Moonlight

Great theme and some great entries. This shot has had some spot removal, slight angle adjustment/cropping but is otherwise SOOC.
This is a beach at night illuminated entirely by moonlight (in fact a super full moon which was behind the building from which this was taken). I believe that thhe 2 red dots are marker lights for a jetty further down the beach which is otherwise not visible in this shot.
K-x, Pentax SMC A 50mm (The Traveling Nifty-Fifty, in fact), ISO 3200, f8, 3 sec. handheld (hence the blur).
