Posted By: DanLoc78, 05-28-2008, 08:36 AM

Rules:

1. Anyone and everyone who is interested in eligible

2. Make an attempt to effectively capture the theme of the week

3. Post your single picture in this thread, and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme

4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color saturation) but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. let's try to keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves

5. There is one theme labeled black and white, but feel free to post black and white, sepia, etc. for any of the other themes

6. Have fun, provide constructive and friendly criticism, and fire away

7. It is preferable if the picture you post was taken during the week in which the theme is active; however, any picture you would like to post is acceptable!

This week's theme...Wednesday, May 28 - Tuesday, June 3. You may post your pics as soon as you are ready during the above timeframe.

The person who will judge these Week 3 photos will be the selected based on the results (to be posted shortly) from Week 2 - Shadows.

Grey Tree Frog

This is our Grey Tree Frog. He lives in our lillies. He seems to really love the spot. It's near a small stream that has some little pools, and I given to understand this is likely where the female deposits her eggs. I'll be looking for tadpoles...

This is just after a rain this weekend. Based on the dense foliage, I couldn't really get a better angle on him.

Richmond deer

I'll play this week. Last week I skipped simply because I couldn't make shot which I believed was good enough...
Anyway, on sunday we went to Richmond park and par of our welcome comitee was this handsome fella...
taken with Hoya HMS 135 f2.8 + Cokin CPL & K100D combo, at f4 at 1/250 ISO200. No cropping, only resizing, little sharpening, and and levels...
I was pretty amazed that they let us come so close, at times I was as close as 10 meters (according to lens' focus ring), and considering they are wild free running animals...
enough of talk, here's the shot:

you're too hard on yourself...but it's good to have high standards. Is that an elk? Whatever it is, it is one beautiful animal.

This family hopped past my motel window yesterday morning and stopped to pose.

They say hi.

Cheers

I try to be hard on myself, because that's the only way I can progress with photography.... I think
And I'm sorry but I really don't know which word in english does describe this species (english is not my native language) so I simply call it deer

Bug on flower

Hi all

Can't realy beat the great bird shots here, but I think this one is a bit fun.
Was trying to take pics of some "flowers" yesterday in our garden. It is actually some sort of weed: yellow flowers that turn into whitish ball of parasol seeds. Don't know the english name. In Swedish they are "maskros" ~"worm rose", if translated directly. As I was trying to decide where to place the focus or to get the entire seed-ball into the DOF there came crawling a bug of some sort ("bärfis" in Swedish, won't try to translate since it is a bit ). This is the best one that came out of that visit.

Strange lens configuration also: the DA* 50-135/2.8 with the 2x Kenko converter (which does not aoutofocus on the SDM lens but on all non-SDM-autofocus lenses I have) with a +2 close up lens on top. Was trying to destroy the DA*50-135...
