OK, lets give a weekly date challenge a try.

The date for challenge #1 wil be March 17.

The winner for #1 will be picked on Sunday, June 8.


The winner each week wil pick the next date and host the challenge and pick the winner.

Here are the rules which should carry forward from week to week


The rules:
1. Post ONE photo (max 800x800) as a response to THIS post and can be a digital photo or a scanned photo.
2. The photo must be taken on the date of the challenge and can taken in any year.
3. You can offer as much or as little additional information as you wish.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The challenge host will pick the WINNERS and and the first place winner will host the next challenge and pick the next date.
6. The challenge runs for 7 days plus a day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera will do or a Samsung DSLR.

Damn tough date for me and the Pentax ! I looked and I only had two pictures to choose from ( I had a k100d in 2007 but appraently I did not take a picutre 17-Mar-2007) but at least I had a choice. Here is a crystal from Chitzen Itza, Mexico, it is suppose to posses healing powers, I am not so sure it does, but my wife believes and that is all that really counts eh

Well, I'll have to try next round. I've only been shooting digital since June '07, and no March 17 2008 shots. :ugh: And film doesn't record exif, so who knows when I shot something before digital!

Luckily, I have a pic that I like from that date. A close-up portrait of my wife, shot with the Pentax-A 35-70/F3.5 zoom lens. I was testing out my DIY flash diffuser when I shot this:

How bizarre. When I was looking at this date I realized that I'd entered another date challenge for this date. My camera was set to the wrong am/pm time. So the date changed in the middle of the day.
So whereas I took a lot of (in my humble opinion) nice shots at the Cabrillo Lighthouse that day, it wasn't until I left to go home that the time changed on my camera to the 18th. So this is a shot of flowers on the side of the road that caught my eye on the way home that I stopped to get a couple shots of. At least it has the correct date, although it is obviously not 16 minutes after midnight, or 16 minutes into the new day of the 18th!

The place is empty as it was a "cool" windy day (well cool for the folks who live there, plenty hot for me!), so most of them were gone shopping... and they gave me a great photo op!
