Potw #13 - 5/25/08 - 6/8/08
Posted By: mtnbearhug, 06-02-2008, 06:11 PM

I dont mean to step on any toes... I noticed that this weeks POTW wasn't posted so I am just helping out and getting it started. I just added a week to Kris dates on the title..

So who ever was planning on hosting this week go ahead and take over... if not I will do my best.. I should be around most of the week.. But feel free anyone to take the reigns.

Rules as before:
1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week .
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Runs for 7 days <Sunday Date> to <Sunday Date>
5) Enter anything you shot last week or this current week until the thread closes.

Previous hosts: 1 Peter Zack, 2 Eaglerapids, 3 rmtagg, 4 Peter Zack, 5 daacon, 6 Bramela, 7 mtnbearhug, 8 dantuyhoa, 9 gawan, 10 roentarre, 11 daacon, 12 Kris, 13 ????

Heres a couple to get us started....

I had Rosemary in mind when I took this shot.. !!!

first insect macro and portrait of a squirrel

today i was out trying to get my animals/wildlife shot for the project 52 thread. The best i had from this past week was a lazy squirrel...shown here, along with one of my favorites from the insect pics.

Stratman...great shots...especially like the creativity of the reflection in the glasses.

I looked over, and saw the reflection, and said "DON'T MOVE!!!" haha, had to back up a bit as i had the Tamron 70-300 on at the time, switched it to macro, and took the shot...

Here's one I took of Tucker earlier today (Monday). I was out washing my pickup, had him tied out on a lead in the yard, and had my K100D w/ my new Tamron 70-300 mounted in the garage (still testing it on all sorts of things). Saw his hound-dog profile & zoomed in to 220mm. 1/250, F8.

I know it's no prize-winner, but it is sharp and the bokeh is pleasant, I think. Plus, it's a classic Beagle profile.

Thanks for the rescue Kim . If you guys need a host ,send me a PM .

Why don't we call it a " Community Host Thread " this week ?

It's very sunny lately around here so infrared is my mode :

Kim : That quail (?) is quite nice . They do run into my yard sometimes , ofcourse only when I don't have the camera !

Straman : Love that sunglasses shot . So cool !

Rosemary : You have a classy touch with all the flowers !

NewportPreacher : Nice clean shot .

He's actually just shielding himself from the wind...and I told him to wipe the smile off his face so I could get a serious portrait of him.

Night Shot - spider & web

This is really difficult. Spider kept moving when the focus preflash fired.

Impossible to judge focus in the dark for a manual shot. Spider webs are incredibly thin so trial and error on exposure to get the web and the spider.

I know, I know - the spider is over-exposed but the web came out beautifully.

Good thing the spider was outside the front door so I could duck in and out of the computer room to view results.
Love this camera! Oh the Sigma 28-70 f2.8 isn't bad either.

Niagara Falls

I originally Posted it these at the end of the last POTW but I think they might fall into this POTW according to the dates.

Really it's just a shameless way of showing more people my shots from Niagara Falls.

It already looks like it's going to be another cracker of a week from everyone.

Kim, lovely yellow in your flower shot.
Stratman, love the sunglasses shot with the reflection.
DanLoc78, really nice squirrel shot. I wish we had them in Oz.
Rosemary, love what you've done with the rose.
NewportPreacher, really like your Beagle shot.
dantuyhoa, love your IR pic.
woof, very nice car series.
garth1948, not one of my fav subjects but it's amazing the amount of work they put into their webs. Nice capture of the web.
PentaxLoyal, loved seeing your whole series.

Got this the other day with the M 50/1.7

Great shots so far. Here are some from last weekend - do you prefer back light or front light?
