Posted By: frank, 06-03-2008, 02:25 AM

Welcome to the Weekly Challenge #60: Sunrises

I'd love to see your best sunrise photos here in this competition.

Please submit entries till midnight GMT on Monday, Tuesday, Jun 10, 2008.

HAVE FUN!

The rules are as always:

The rules:

2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme. It can be colour or B&W, your choice.
3. You can offer as much or as little additional information as you wish, but I'd be interested to know the location/event/whatever being depicted.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and chose 1 of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. The challenge runs for 7 days plus a day for the judge to choose the winners.

Lens flare seems to be a common thread here... Here's my contribution from week three as a K200D owner. Got out early, drove 1/2 hour, and went trespassing to shoot the moonset/sunrise.

Thanks! We were actually waiting for the Sun to rise.. My first sunrise was a disaster and found out that long exposure is better when the sun is about to rise.. My first take on long exposure!

I had submitted to PPG so some of you may have seen already (not accepted) although it is still my favorite sunrise.

Usually, I have to fret over which of several favorites to post in reply to one of these challenges. This one was a bit easier since I've only been up for about three sunrises in my life.

One all three occasions, I remembered something PJ O'Rouke observed about how travel writers always use, but never finish, the phase "We left at first light." He asserts that the phrase should always be followed by the two words "... feeling gastly!"

Good luck judging Frank! You've got a lot of great shots to choose from.

I was up at sunrise for a few nights while this contest was on. Problem is I was up at sunrise having worked through the whole night. So no pix from me. Nice to see the other offerings in a category I could physiologically never hope to enter.

[QUOTE=roentarre;259155]Frank, that was taken in central Taiwan? Very beautiful shot and I wish I have taken that myself!

Thanks James. Yes, it's taken in central Taiwan. And sorry for the late reply. Both kids have been sick in the past week, didn't get online as often, and my mind isn't w/ me even when I was online
