Weekly Challenge #8

The 8th weekly based challenge here, for anyone who is interested.

The rules are as follows:

1. Post ONE photo (max 800x800) as a response to THIS post.

2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme. It can be color or B&W, your choice.

3. You can offer as much or as little additional information as you wish, but I'd be interested to know the location/event/whatever being depicted.

4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.

5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and chose 1 of them to be the judge for the next week.

6. The challenge runs for 7 days plus a day or so for the judge to choose the winners.

7. Any camera will do but it must be a Pentax.

This week's theme will be "Children"
Be it your own, someone close to you, or challenging yourself to walk around and talk to parents to try something you've never tried before, the theme this week is children. I chose this because starting next Saturday, I will be moving back to Kamloops to return to a career I never should have left in the first place. Childcare. So I'd like to celebrate that by seeing what everyone here can do with these naturally brilliant photography subjects.

The challenge starts now and ends on Sunday, Feb 11th, 9pm Pacific time. Good luck!

Former Challenge Themes have been:
Week 1 - Statue
Week 2 - Wheels
Week 3 - Speed
Week 4 - Peace
Week 5 - Survival
Week 6 - Macro
Week 7 - Mountains

This one is over a year old but ....

it is one of my favorites. My son received a new guitar for Christmas and needed a neck strap. Pentax to the rescue. DX & kit lens. Natural light from a bay window.

I'm not really one who does these things...

But ok, here goes - this little girl was a guest at my god-daughter's birthday. I was tooling with a loaned K-series 55 mm f/2 on my K100 (what a fun lens!). ISO 400, 1/15, f/2, no flash, handheld (SR on), Incandescent WB. Resized for screen, no other retouching.

My son Will loves electric trains. I "caught" him this weekend reading a Bachmann train catalogue on our couch with the afternoon light streaming in through the window. Pentax K10d with Tamron 28-75 f2.8 XR DI lens at ISO 400, 1/60, f2.8, DNG. Minor exposure compensation in Elements.

I like all the shots posted in here so far. Artyste, you're going to have a tough time picking one out - I know I would!
