Spring got here pretty quick this year. Went from freezing to yank off the long sleeves in a couple of days...along wiht over a week of yukky cold and rainy...but we needed the rain badly.

Dandelion just opening. Makinon 135mm and 30mm extension tubes.



Spring Beauty, one of the earliest of the spring flowers, these are all over my back yard. Same setup, no flash, I had enough light to go without the flash



Texas Toadflax, another common spring flower all over the back yard. And everywhere else...same rig



Thought it might be time to put out the Hummingbird feeder, next day it looked like the level had gone down, 2nd day I started seeing Hummers, this was the next day when I actually had some light. Makinon 135mm without the extension tube...



Dragonfly. One of the first I've seen, managed to get a decent shot of it in the air. Guess it's time to go check the puddles up the road and see who's flying around...

Thanks for hosting Noel. Here's some weekend photos:
I went for a walk in the woods yesterday, I was drawn to a small swampy area by the deafening sound of thousand of Western Chorus Frogs singing (mating time I think), I spotted a few, but most were in the reeds. These frogs are between a nickle and a quarter in size, I could only get withing about ten feet, on very soft and wet ground. They were very hard to spot.


We went to Columbus Architectural Salvage for a little while on Saturday, you never know what you may find there:

I took a few more photos last weekend . Didn't get time to process them all.
These are taken with a K 50 and PENTAX-FA J 75-300mm F4.5-5.8 AL lens.

I've lived in my house for seven months and every night I can hear owls hooting. I had never seen them nor their nests until last week. Two of them have a nest in my neighbor's tree a couple houses down from us.
