Weekly Challenge #322 - Leaf Peeping
Posted By: Tamia, 04-18-2015, 04:52 AM

Welcome to Weekly Challenge #322 - Leaf Peeping

Thanks to Hattifnatt for the last challenge and for passing on the honor of choosing this week's challenge theme.

As the title suggests, this week let's look at leaves, in particular, leaves that are individually identifiable. They're miniature works of art, intricate and beautiful. Some of my favorite leaf pictures are shown below. Now let's see yours.

Spring Maple Leaves

Optimism

Fluid Dance

After the Fall

Upside Down

Hosta

Becoming Fossils

The fine print:

Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.

The Challenge will run until midnight next Saturday, April 25, 2015, whichever time zone you are in.

Rules
1. Post ONE photo (max 1024x1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Photos from any Pentax camera (film, compact, DSLR, etc.) -- or a Samsung DSLR -- are allowed.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

Have fun!

LEAVES! I love this challenge! I love shooting leaves despite everyone I know having no interest in them close up. I've got about ten pics I'd love to share but alas, I can only choose one!

A little more than one day left to enter more photos, everyone. It's going to be tough picking a winner from this lot, but the more then merrier!

After days of stress about which one to enter, I've decided on this one, though looking through all these fabulous entries, I doubt it'll get me any favors.

There are a few more hours left to enter this contest, folks. I'll shut it down when I check the forum with my coffee on Sunday morning.

What a surprise to have my photo chosen as one of the winners in the first photo contest I had ever joined!!! Congratulations to the other winners ---- Tom and Tim. Tamia, your detailed and insightful comments on the merits of each of the entries were fantastic. It was so educational. Reading your comments just expanded my repertoire of how to see beauty in every leaf --- whether it's fresh, dry, frozen, or deceptive (remember the walking leaf?). Thanks also to the others for your comments and commendations.

Now give me a day and I will find a theme to keep the momentum rolling.

Am completely brand new to this, by the way. Do I get to pick the theme? Help!

Ah, I cannot believe I missed this challenge. After weeks, I was finally able to spend some time at photography again. So I have been outside the last two days, and at least half of my photos ended up to be pictures of young, fresh leaves in the beautiful spring sun!

Oh well, there will come a topic where I can squeeze one or two of them in :-)

Hi and congratulations!

Yes, you are absolutely free in picking a theme you like. Be warned though, popular themes tend to end up in a lot of judging work

For the rest, just copy and paste the last week's initial post and insert correct theme and end date.
