Feel free to post any topic you enjoy that was phtographed between June 8 and June 22.

Rules as before:
1) No theme just your favorite stuff.

4) Runs for 7 days <Sunday Date> to <Sunday Date>
5) Enter anything you shot last week or this current week until the thread closes.

AML, Thanks I don't know what flower that is. I was just crusing around the flower shop while my wife was shopping. I will drop into the flower shop again and find out.

Dave, I've had both the F50/1.7 and this FA version. As for IQ there's not much between them. Some actually like the 1.7 better. I only opted for the 1.4 because it's marginally faster (Needed all the speed you can get for available light wedding shots) and I was able to get it for less than I sold the 1.7 for. So unless you find one for $150, I wouldn't switch.

A couple of shots from some local high-water last week. Fortunately this creek stayed in the levee (though not the banks...), unlike many around our region.

One is debris piled up against the bridge piers - water was up & over the bridge on this one because it's got a low decking and when it catches debris it piles up and makes things even worse... Second shot was just some interesting drainage patterns preserved in the fine silt mud as it dried out on the bicycle path under another bridge on the creek.

Kettel Corn Series

At the farmers market these guys could not make this stuff fast enough. One guy 'cooking' two baggging and selling and the line ups just continued. What a gold mine. What do you need to make kettle corn. Well glad you asked

Click on image for larger view

Well you need some up-popped Kernels , sugar, oil, and of course a big Kettle !

Some TLC

Stir till popping is complete

Pour into Bagging area

Bag, tag and sell

There was about a 5 minute delay before the next batch was ready - man I think I found my retirement gig

That bridge gets piled up like this every year or two... It's an urban stream, with a lot of very rapid runoff from paved and built-up areas around Omaha, so it rises very quickly (and drops back down just as quickly). The stream's response has changed a lot over the last 20 years or so as the city built up. Not unusual to see water over the road here anymore.

At least we're not dealing with the amount of water Iowa has to handle...

Dragonboat Racing

Here are some from a dragonboat race in Parry Sound, Ont. Last weekend. That's the crew I coach. I was very proud of them.

Daacon,

Thanks for the comments.

You must be in Calgary then. Met some paddlers from there a few years ago. Awesome folks.

Portrait

This girl had some young and was not exactly happy to see me. Approx. 100% crop from DA 55-300mmm at 300mm, hand held.

I like the effect of the background, caused by late day sun reflected off of trees onto pond covered with a kind of greenish/yellow algae and lilly pads...
