Weekly Challenge #323 - "OBJECTS AT HOME"
Posted By: jchorst, 08-06-2015, 08:41 AM

I feel very honored to have been selected as judge for the next Weekly Challenge. This is my first time, so I am more than a little bit excited!

Last week's theme was "Holiday Time" (or "Vacation Time"). This week I think it's time to think of those who stayed at home, so my theme is "Objects at Home." It covers everything you can find in your home (or in your garden). And by saying everything I mean every thing - no living people, animals or plants. Just objects - which of course include figurines, statuettes, pictures or something like that of people, animals and plants. Living People etc. however, will be accepted in the background, but not as main motives. Apart from those limitations you are free to choose whatever you like!

Being on a vacation myself with limited access to my photo library I cannot show you any contest worthy examples, but I hope everybody gets the idea.

This contest will close at Thursday, August 13, at midnight CET.

Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week. This challenge is Pentax-only.

Everyone is eligible to send in their best interpretation of the given theme, as long as the photo is taken with a Pentax/Samsung camera. Themes can be subject-oriented or technique-oriented.

Rules
1. Post ONE photo (max 1024x1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax (or Samsung DSLR) camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

Have fun!

My wive inherited this sewing machine from her grandmother. It has been replaced for sewing by a much newer model by now, but it is still valued as a decorative object and as keepsake.
( ...and as photo subject on rainy days, as you can see!)

My Stetson and field jacket after a winter walk. Pentax MX and, if you saw my article about manual focus lenses then you'll know this was taken with a single-element plano-convex lens rigged up into a macro bellows.

Just a simple picture of my toothpick holder on the kitchen window sill. The reflections are from the double pane window.---charliezap

As summer illness season runs through my house, this scene is becoming fairly common...

My pride and joy, one of two mementos I have of my visit to Nepal, this is a Batik, and hangs proudly in my lounge, and always evokes a question from 1st time visitors. I bought several of these in Pokhara along with other gifts for family and friends, and upon my return, and before I knew it, I was left with one of each, and hence I guard them with great care. I actually saw a Buddhist monk on the streets of Pokhara swinging his mantra, similar to the one depicted here. So a double memento.

Here's what I eventually did with it-complete picture so to speak- having learned those framing skills working in an Art Gallery for 3 years.

This is the other memento.
