Winners - Weekly Challenge #61: Red
Posted By: DJey, 06-20-2008, 07:43 AM

We had a total of 31 entries for this week - RED. Whew, my first to judge and you guys gave me a hard time choosing the winner.. I even ask some of my friends to choose just so I could be fair.. heheheh..

So here are my favorites (in order posted):

@Tim,
This one was great! A good product shot.. Loved the angle and lighting..

@Workingdog,
Loved this one too.. another product shot! heheh.. Tight cropping worked here!

@Mike,
One of the best.. Would have been in the top 3 if composed better.. A little cropping below and in the right side would work better.. I guess..

And the winners are:

A tie @ 3rd:
@Peter & AXL,
Really couldn't choose one here so I decided for a tie.. Loved the way they desaturate the photos..

AXL's shot was dramatic and loved the composition..

Peter's did a great job too.. The red portion was enough, not much not too little to make it monotonous.. just perfect..

2nd:
@mtnbearhug,
Loved the way it was composed.. The black background works well in emphasizing the subject! Cool!

and the winner is:
@Dave,
Heheheh.. You got me here.. The best.. Loved the blend of the color RED and green.. The green adds more into it making it more dramatic rather than just plain RED.. Nice one! (side comment, I think it would be much better to crop the stainless steel on the left side.. a distraction for me.. Either way still the best!)

Okay Dave's, it's your turn now.

Ciao

DJey Thanks for the tie at 3rd with AXL, it's an honour to be tied with him and in this group of shooters.
Great shots all and big congrats to Dave.

Have fun judging Dave not only is it tough to pick a good theme but the quality of the work is getting better as each week passes. Just look at the recent POTW's

Thanks DJey for the honourable mention - I agree with your comments - the cropping could be improved - I did it late on the evening before going on a long weekend vacation...
