Weekly Challenge #62 - Action on Water
Posted By: daacon, 06-20-2008, 09:37 AM

Well we have had Water before and Action so I would like to combine two for the Weekly Challenge #62: Action on the Water

To give you a few ideas of what my train of thought is , it can include the obvious such as windsurfing, boats, water skiing, as well as kids in a sprinkler, rain bouncing off a car roof, a stone skipping over water, Birds landing , Macro's of splashing water, etc I think the interpretation is almost endless

Please submit entries till midnight GMT on Friday, Jun 27, 2008.

I will actually be on a plane on the 27th and away for the weekend, but will have access to Internet so I may be a little slow on the judging.

Looking forward to some creative entries

The rules are as always:

The rules:
1. Post ONE photo (max 1000x1000, I prefer bigger sized ones ) as a response to THIS post.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme. It can be colour or B&W, your choice.
3. You can offer as much or as little additional information as you wish, but I'd be interested to know the location/event/whatever being depicted.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and chose 1 of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. The challenge runs for 7 days plus a day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera will do or a Samsung DSLR.

While the technical merits of this photo are shotty at best, I think the action is pretty good. There is no PP on this photo aside from sharpening and a crop.

My wife actually took this photo, that's me on the wakeboard. You can probably deduce why they call me big Ben. Most action I've had on the water in quite some time.

It was first thing in the morning and there was a flock of geese on the lake, most flew away but this one got confused and flew along side the boat for a brief moment. The rope went right over his head and he flew away unharmed (if not a little shaken).

***no animals were harmed in the shooting of this photo***

I love this shot. Too funny! It just goes to show that not all images have to be technically perfect to have merit.

synchronised landing

Here is my entry for this week's topic.
It was taken early in 2007 and is one of the few of it's kind in my collection. Maybe I should do more wildlife shots... anyway.
Here are two Canada geese landing on Serpentine in Hyde Park...
Not much PPing, just cropped and coverted to BW, not the best shot, but why not to play...

Man, that's gotta be cold. Lake Erie or Ontario ?
That would be Lake Ontario in March this year. The guys said the water was about 2 deg C and that was plenty warm enough for them. I think they are a little crazy.

Some really good shots all - I am impressed (and jealous) by the diversity so far - we still have a few more days so don't be shy and let your imagination run wild

The obvious photo for me to use would be a sailing or windsurfing shot as it is what I mostly take photos of. But instead I will enter a photo I took at a schoolcamp. This is the second longest waterslide in the southern hemisphere and it winds through the bush. The speed is awesome and one crazy parent succeded with a 360 degree flip.

Cheers
