Project 52, Week 7 - Night Scene
Posted By: DanLoc78, 06-24-2008, 08:38 PM

If you need to see the rules again, please see one of the previous Project 52 threads.

I was thinking of amending rule 7 (rule 7: it is preferable if pictures are taken during the active week, but it is not required) to say: Past photos may be entered but only pictures taken during the active week can be judged. I am not against posting photos taken in the past, and I know it is hard for everyone to get out each week for a different theme, but I thought it would be more fair for only those actively shooting a theme in a given week to be judged. Just an idea, feedback on that would be appreciated.

This week's theme...Night Scenes. Post your pics anytime from Wednesday, June 25 - Tuesday, July 1. You may post your pics as soon as you are ready during the above timeframe.

Derius won Week 6 - Water with this incredible photo from Greece, and now has the honor to judge the Week 7 photos. We'll hold off on the above rule change (if we actually make a change) for this week. So again for this week, any photos entered should be judged right alongside the others until we get this rule thing worked out. Congrats Derius, beautiful shot.

I won't change the rule unless others agree. I don't want them to be my rules but our rules. Anyway, it was just a suggestion, any feedback would be great! Thanks...Dan

I like the rule of current week - we have the weekly and monthly and date challenge already for posting a date range of photo's. But I understand not eveyone can get out and shoot every week. Not fence sitting - my vote is current week.

100% agree here.
If it's a project it should be really about gettin out on stated week and try to shoot to tick the boxes of the theme....
Oh, now I have to go out in the night... my fiance won't like it

I agree it should be current week. One of the reasons I have not entered all of these challenges so far is that I have not had current photos... so I've been holding myself to this rule all along. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it...

Now I have to go figure out how to take night photos. Heh.

woof!

Put me down for having the shots be from the current week. I've been doing it that way all along anyways.

It is settled then. I will re-post the rules in the week 8 thread, specifically stating that while past photos are OK, only current week photos can be judged.

getting back to a picture for the theme...

can it be that I am the first to post an entry for this week?

I took this last night, these are flowers along my front walk that open flat
in the sunlight and close up at night

"closed for the evening"

EXIF seems to be missing, it was shot with a M50/1.7 at f4, ISO 200, 10 sec
exposure, bumped up 3 stops in RAW processing, slight crop. I think the color
is about right, the streetlight around the corner is sodium vapor and the
flowers are orange anyways.

getting a good focus was an amusing exercise

thanks for looking

I pass this seminary a few times a month and each time I drive by it, I'm impressed by how beautiful it is.

Here's my contribution.
Taken with K100D and Vivitar 17-28mm at 17mm, 20 sec, f/6.7, iso 800.
Only lighting was from a nearby streetlight.

Whoa, I almost missed this one. I don't have many night scenes on digital, but here's one from a couple of weeks ago. Nothing special....just your typical NYC skyline shot:

Been away for a few days almost missed this one myself. Was at ball tournament last weekend. Here is the headliner Kim Mitchell. The shot is not the best - very noisy, I have several at ISO 1600 not many came out. This one was ISO 800. The grounds where wall to wall people so shooting anything was difficult. This was taken at 12:20 AM - I think playing his most popular song Patio Lanterns...

Regardless of the quality - the beer was cold, Kim Mithcell put on a very good show (how many remember Max Webster Band ?) haha and it was still probably close to 30 degrees still (Celsius) - a scorcher weekend for sure. This shows about 1/3 or the crowd.
