Project 52, Week 7 - Pride
Posted By: DanLoc78, 07-02-2008, 05:48 AM

Sorry, that should say week 8.

Rules:

1. Anyone and everyone who is interested in eligible

2. Make an attempt to effectively capture the theme of the week

3. Post your single picture in this thread, and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme

4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color saturation) but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. let's try to keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves

5. There is one theme labeled black and white, but feel free to post black and white, sepia, etc. for any of the other themes

6. Have fun, provide constructive and friendly criticism, and fire away

7. You may post pictures taken before the current active week; however, only photos captured during the active week will be judged.

This week's theme...Pride (not coincidental that it runs over 4th of July weekend )Wednesday, July 2 - Tuesday, July 8. You may post your pics as soon as you are ready during the above timeframe.

Beest won week 7 Night Scenes with this fantastic photo:

pride

You have this contest running over your 4th of July, but are missing Canada day by one day. I motion that photos captured on the first of this month in Canada be included for judging. We have MUCH prirde to show up here.

Thanks,

Beest

Oh...just a BIT, although we are still in the valley.

Thanks Dan for the consideration. Hopefully we will get some more Canadian content.

Another (former) Kingston/Greenwood resident...

daacon and beest:

I too have a Kingston/Greenwood connection and am a 'former' Air Force Brat - I lived in Greenwood from 1969 until I moved to Toronto in 1976. I attended West Kings as well! What a small world! My mother is from Summerside PEI and my father from Digby so I have very strong 'Down East' roots.

My mother still lives in the area and I was last there in the fall of 2007. I spent a glorious Sunday morning taking photos along the Nictaux river!

Here is my addition. This is the new 35W bridge which replaces the one that had collapsed last year. Crews have been working 24 hours a day to finish the bridge ahead of schedule! Here is one such crew working on July 4th.

I'll give it a shot

OK, I'm not sure if this captures the topic 100% but it's the closes I get...
Anyway, I was on a walk in central London and I noticed these two lads. First of all, you don't get to see guys wearing kilts very often anymore, so I think they must be proud to be Scotts to wear them. And what struck me next, was name of the pub. Argyll is region up north in Scotland. So here we have two guys wearing kilts standing in front of Scottish pub in the middle of London.
Is it pride? I think it is, you can decide...

Thanks Dan. Since these guys are probably getting extra pay for working the 4th I'm pretty sure it isn't oppression
