Weekly Challenge #347 - Natural Abstracts
Posted By: RollsUp, 04-06-2016, 12:19 PM

This weeks theme is Natural Abstracts. Show me your images of anything occurring in nature that defines "abstract".
One of dictionary.coms definition of abstract is "of or relating to the formal aspect of art, emphasizing lines, colors, generalized or geometrical forms, etc., especially with reference to their relationship to one another."

This competition ends April 13, 2016 midnight my time.
Have fun!

Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.

Everyone is eligible to send in their best interpretation of the given theme, as long as the photo is taken with a Pentax/Samsung camera. Themes can be subject-oriented or technique-oriented.

Rules
1. Post ONE photo (max 1024x1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax (or Samsung DSLR) camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

Abstract Milkweed Seeds

I used to love chasing these things on windy days when I was a kid. Now, I marvel at their beauty and photograph them. The image is tweaked to heighten the refractive quality of the silk.

Rodney (RollsUp) is in for a tough time here!
So far there are only a couple that I would rule out of contention (mine included!)
There is some really great stuff among the entries.

Silver Grains

This is a photo of sun-bleached driftwood.

I was struck by the metallic look it had, even though it is completely organic. And when it is printed on metallic paper, it looks simply stellar (IMO).

Quick question: are luminance inverted abstracts acceptable? I don't want to spam the thread with non-applicable shots.
As long as it is an image of a natural abstract I have no problems with it. Plus I've never heard of inverted luminance images so I'm curious what one looks like.

Yeah, I knew I should've gone with my 2nd choice, "Images taken in Antarctica within the last month".

Still a lot of time to enter this weeks challenge folks.

Lower Antelope Canyon

Just for the fun of entering as I am not sure about having internet access this week.
I loved this place.
