PROJECT 52-8-20 - SHAPES-Lines
Posted By: noelcmn, 05-16-2016, 02:09 AM

Welcome to Project 52-8 for the year 2016. We move onto the exciting subject of Shapes-and this week it is Lines, and which has also proved popular in the Project 52 history.

Images for Project 52-8-20 are to be taken between Monday 16 May 2016 through to Sunday 22 May 2016. Closing times is midnight in your time Zone

Rules
1. Anyone and everyone interested in the challenge is eligible. The goal continues to be to have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques
with fellow Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore. The theme/sub-concepts are chosen by the facilitator every week. You are only
required to submit a photo taken during the week of the challenge, and in keeping with the theme/sub-concept and be willing to be the judge if you win.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-8 thread for the week. Explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. Since this project is about technique, and not camera, shots taken by non Pentax cameras are allowed. Cameras may be SLRs, DSLRs, Point & Shoot,
Medium Format, et cetera. And we will include images taken with phones as well.
6. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post black and white, sepia, monotone, etc., for any of the other themes.
7. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is active to be eligible for judging. It is up to the discretion of the current week's
Judge to accept or decline early/late entries i.e. a day earlier or a day late. Usually there is some flexibility here to allow as many entrants as possible. BUT
PLEASE DO NOT POST IMAGES TAKEN DAYS OR WEEKS OUTSIDE THE PERIOD OF THE CHALLENGE. TRY TO KEEP IT AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE
TO THE TIME FRAME.
8. Additional images are welcome, but please keep them to a minimum. If more than one image is posted, make sure you identify your entry for the challenge.
Additional images should also please comply with rule 1 and rule 7.
9. Any picture taken from thread start date to listed closing date is acceptable.
10. The WINNER of each weekly challenge is the JUDGE of the next weeks Project 52-8 and may not participate in the challenge.
11. The host/facilitator (in this case noelcmn) may participate in the challenge, provided he/she is not the judge.

Some examples from previous Project 52 and which are both interesting and inspiring.

Very "Monet," Tess -- very calming and beautiful!

I decided on a mix of manmade and natural lines with...

Boardwalk Through the Late-Spring Forest Pentax K5-IIs, DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.8 AL II @ 55mm, 1/500s, f8, ISO 400, handheld.

I went out and took several photos of lines for this challenge but liked this one best.

Divided skies

I have to say I really didn't know what to post. There are too many lines around me so I experienced some kind of sensoric overload. Lines everywhere. Thin or bold, long versus short, curvy aside straights. Nightmare in one word.
So here it is an archtecture again. This time Sir Norman Foster's Metropolitan building in Warsaw. It's fasade to be precise. Ok, a part of it...Never mind. Hope you enjoy.

Kitchen whisk. Not very original I'm afraid.

The vast majority of my images are captured with Pentax cameras.
However, I had no Pentax with me during the evening walk when this image was captured. I had a pocket-size camera.

Christian, I do not envy you having to judge this contest. Every week here at P52 brings out some great shots.

I heartily agree Tamia, phew, the competition is stiff around here. Welcome Just_life_photograph, to Pentax Forums, and Project 52 in particular.

I know, right? As of right now I have no idea which way things are going to go!

It is the entries like these that make me wonder why I bother. Great stuff guys.
Well, most weeks I am under the radar and that is perfectly fine, I mostly see this challenge as a exercise that helps me improve me and challenges me. And sometimes I even get lucky What I like most is that you have to get out and take pictures, and it's not gear-centered like the Single In challenge, for example. It's my favorite challenge and I decided I am going to do the Weekly Challenge the same way

How may arrangements of lines can you find? The architecture of the house, including windows and shutters, the glass roof, the wooden appendix/patio on the right, the underside of the extending roof all follow lines in a 7/8th of a meter grid. The deck and furnature have more to offer ...
Not the best possible shot, I intended to redo it with better light when the sun was lower, but the new D-FA 28-105mm did fairly well with the sun just outside the frame. I didn't expect how exhausting the whitewater kayak introductory course (2x8h) on the weekend would be
I'm afraid I also need to spend a little less time on photography and clean the roof instead.

Hope I wasn't being misunderstood Christian. That is the way I take the challenges also. I was trying to pay a compliment to the entrants in a left-handed sort of way.
