Weekly Challenge #364 - Wood
Posted By: noelcmn, 09-17-2016, 10:33 PM

I have the wonderful honor of hosting the next Weekly Challenge and I thought for this weeks Challenge, we would go for wood. In any form, shape or size. A fairly broad and open challenge, from architectural aspects,. to art, art decor, musical instruments such as Piano's and Violins. Or the simple skull duggery block of wood. And even a tree would do. As endless as can be. I like wood creations, so wow me with your interpretations.

The Challenge will close on Sunday 26th, midnight in your time Zone. Judging will happen on Monday morning, once I have had sufficient cups of coffee .

The Rules

1. Post ONE photo (max 1024x1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax (or Ricoh DSLR ) camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, then the winner will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

Some examples

For this week I wanted to keep the photo a bit seasonal
This photo was taken in forest close to my home on a bit of a gloomy morning just when the sun decied to wake up.

No man made art but nature made art

Wonderful submissions here and a terrific theme with examples, Noel. I've always been partial to this photo of a tree stump from a formerly stately riverside beauty:

Here's my entry.
This was taken two months after the worst bushfire Victoria had suffered since 1939.
Many Eucalyptus trees have a regenerative capacity as can be seen in the tree on the right.
Over time quite a few of the trees in the image would have sprouted again - from this particular fire more died than would be usual.
The sprouting eventually gives way to a number of branches taking over and returning the tree to a normal looking tree.

Taken at a local park. If every picture tells a story, what is this one saying?

Where is the wood, there are nails. Hope I do not violate the contest rule having not only wood but iron as well.
