Weekly Challenge #367 - RED MACHINES
Posted By: UncleVanya, 10-15-2016, 08:29 AM

First I'd like to say thank you to LondonWombat for hosting a great contest last week. I'd also like to thank everyone who participated and say good luck to all who enter this week.

I'm going to continue in the vein of LondonWombat's contest them that he proposed last week but with a small twist.

His idea was for the weekly challenge to start with BLACK, then each subsequent week, move through all colors of the visual spectrum (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet) and then end with WHITE in the final week (end of November).

- Guidelines for each week would be that the colored area should be the focus of the photo - or a sizeable portion of it.
- Brownie points given to photos that do not have living things in them (algae, fungi, leaves, moss, lichens, etc are exempt).

THIS WEEK's THEME IS RED MACHINES

Any red machine - rusty or pristine will do.

The Challenge will close on Satuday October 22rd, midnight in your time zone.

The Rules:

1. Post ONE photo (max 1024x1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax (or Ricoh DSLR ) camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, then the winner will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

This one was shot during a classics day in my town. It was all about cars, but these two were also there and I liked them.
Not as fast as a super car and maybe not as cool as a big motor, but it has it's charm I would say
Even the lock was in colorsync.

Awesome to see such response! You are all hitting the theme squarely - great to see everyone's interpretations. Remember that vehicles are only one option - any machine or machine like theme is fine. Creativity knows no boundaries so go in whatever direction you want as long as you can make it seem to fit the theme I'm game.

I just noticed that the flickr images I picked used a Canon, a Fuji, and a Panasonic. My shots were with a Pentax (K-3 paired with DA 40 on one and Rokinon 8mm on the other).

The Little Red Stagecoach

This is as good as I've got. Taken a few years ago at the Reno Balloon Festival.

This was hard to choose, I didn't realize I had so many photos of red machines, and since I'm unlikely to catch a new one this week, Ill go with one from the Easyriders show last Winter.

This theme seems to be popular. Great work folks keep them coming in. I'm going to have a lot of fun judging this one.

I made the photo look vintage, like the Dodge, which seems to be smiling for the photo.
Great RED photos so far! Thanks all for continuing the theme.
