Weekly photochallange #372 - B ROYGBIV W - Indigo
Posted By: Vaskebjorn, 11-28-2016, 12:18 PM

Thank you Pizzavandriver for hosting last week.
Shout out to LondonWombat for starting the color challenges.
His idea was for the weekly challenge to start with BLACK, then each subsequent week, move through all colors of the visual spectrum (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet) and then end with WHITE.

- Guidelines for each week would be that the colored area should be the focus of the photo - or a sizeable portion of it.

This week's color is INDIGO and I also will throw in a caveat. I would like to see reflections. This can be in a mirror, window, water or whatever will reflect - with indigo being the predominant color of course.
So get the colors popping of the screen

As indigo is somewhat of a difficult color i will jot get out the color charts .

The Challenge will close on Sunday, December 4th, midnight in your time zone.

The Rules:

1. Post ONE photo (max 1024x1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax (or Ricoh DSLR ) camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, then the winner will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

I am on my ipad and that complicates things a little bit.
And to be honest, i am in favor for free interpretation of the challenge, i do not want to steer it to much.

Hopefully this is indigo. Taken at the Altanta Aquarium.

Alrighty. Here's my first thought. I may replace this later before the contest closes, but it's what I have that matches the theme so far:

Abstract from the reflections found inside the Musee Dorsay in Paris this past spring.

For those wondering, the most familiar indigo object you are likely to see is a dark pair of unfaded "blue" jeans.
That's what I was thinking, now you've blown my idea up, LOL. It is a tough color to pinpoint, and what someone may see as indigo, someone else may not. I'm glad we won't have "impossible" colors.

Oops, I'm changing my image because I forgot to include the reflection element.
So here's Indigo WITH reflection. This is a pond near my house that's convenient if I want a quick shot of the sunrise or sunset.

I've always thought of indigo as a deep blue without the red that would make it purple. The night sky can appear indigo in long exposures.

One of my few 'selfies', taken during a meteor shower. In the lower left is the reflection of a hot spring. In the upper left is a meteor.

Indigo is hard one. This is what I found that includes reflections.

A tough color for a challenge but never the less a great challenge.I perused my files and surprisingly came up with several to choose from but couldn't decide on one to enter so I let my Face Book friends do the choosing for me. The overall favorite was the first shot taken at Lemon Bay in Englewood Florida. It has reflections and I would assume that there are shades of indigo lurking in the shot. If it fails to score I'm blaming my Face Book friends.--charliezap

Only the first is his entry. He said he posted them all to his friends and they picked that one. The others are just for us to admire. LOL.

You can only count one but the "post 1" is often flaunted.

---------- Post added 11-30-16 at 04:27 PM ----------

I withdraw my earlier entry and submit this one:

According to Photoshop elements colour picker there is a little of what might correspond to indigo in the darker veins of the petals. Apart from that indigo seems to be the missing cousin in my collection.
